I have a t18 in my 76 CJ5. I have a t15 sitting on my garage floor. Somewhere, sometime, someone told me I can use something out of the t15 for an upgrade of some type for my t18. For the life of me..... I cant remember what. I do at sometime want to upgrade my t18 to a 6:1 first gear. I'm thinking this is why I've held on to it for this long. My jeep project got put on hold and I'm now going forward on it. Nick? I'm pretty sure I got this from one of our conversations.

Definitely not. Not even close. The T-18 gears are much larger than the T-15 gears.

The '76-79 CJs with 4ST use the same bell, so you should be able to bolt up a wide ratio T-18 from a '77-79 CJ. But the only way you can convert a T-18 from close ratio to wide ratio is to swap over all the gears except the main shaft and output gear. You may as well use the whole transmission.

There are ways to use a Ford T-18 with a Jeep T-18 and get the low gears ... but nothing that I know of that involves the T-15. Totally different.

What Timgr said. Nothing from a T-15 will work except the bellhousing IF you have a T-18 from an intermediate CJ, IF you have the 1" thick adapter between the two. These came stock with 4.02-1 first gears of that era. There is an input that will work with that to convert but are extremely hard to come by. You still need to change the other gears. Iirc third gear, the mainshaft, and adapter, and some small parts are the same.

Anyone want to buy a T-15? Nick, don't know what it's worth, let me know if you can use, I'll drop it off. I might commission you to rebuild my t18 and maybe upgrade first gear too. Let me know how busy you are. I'm doing a axle swap in the mean time.
