I had to rinse mine off when I got home last weekend. It takes 8 times longer to do anything when dirty.

I havnt done to much to the JEEP recently due to shoulder surgery.
I did get a new toy for the JEEP, a SetPower RV45s 12 volt refrigerator. Tymbom was running 1 of these on the Rubicon trip, and was impressed with it. I normally run my Yeti, but it was sooo hot on the trip I was out of ice on day 2. The SetPower was on sale for $310.00.

Also bought the slider for it so I can get into it without unloading everything.

The new fridge sits 2” taller then my Yeti, so I need to raise my rear interior rack .

This is how the JEEP is sitting, needs some love!

Needs the fuel lines finished, and grill and radiator installed and hopefully my DUI distributor should be back soon. The pin holding spring to advance cams was broke.

The price is right. Was Jon happy with it? I have an ARB and love it. But a lot more expensive obviously. So nice to be done with ice.

Jon was happy with it, he was testing it on the trip by unplugging it to see if it would hold temperature, didn’t seem to have any issues with it. When I got it I plugged it into the wall and it dropped down from 68* to 0* in about 1/2 hour. I turned it off and checked about 8 hours later and it had only come up to 40* empty. That’s not to bad, it was in the house at about 78*.

I’m still running original alternator with single battery, always thought if it wasn’t broke didn’t need fix’n. With all the electrical crap I keep adding it might be time to put an upgrade on the list of things to do.

I finally spent a little time under the JEEP today, changing fuel lines. (Got the front tank changed as far as I could)
pulled the filter on the front tank and found it full of aluminum and copper pieces. I don’t know where these came from, kinda looks like drill shavings. Started looking at under seat fuel tank and found sending unit is coming apart so I ordered a new one. The tank only has a couple gallons in it so I’m going to pull it and dump the fuel and see if I can clean it out.
Still need to check the rear fuel line and filter.

I haven't posted any updates recently, been slow going but I did get all the fuel lines changed and both tanks dropped and cleaned out, also replaced a bad sending unit in under seat tank and installed the 2nd mechanical fuel pump as the first one only lasted for a few minutes before it stopped working. Still haven't fired up motor as the grill and radiator are still out while I finish up a few other things that are easier to reach while they are out. Also haven't got my distributor back from Davis Industries where they are replacing the weights that a pin broke off of. I also added a Holley electric inline fuel pump as a back up and will also make it easier to add fuel injection, (soon), I put it on a separate switch so it will only run if I need it, (i.e. mechanical stops working). I also added a fuel pressure regulator while I was re-plumbing things. I bent up some heat shields and covered all the fuel lines and electric fuel pump on the frame. While I under the JEEP I grabbed the steering shaft and noticed I had some play in it, pulled it apart and found the u-joint from Flaming River connecting the box and shaft was bad, so I’m waiting on parts for that.
When I installed the YJ suspension, (9 years ago), I had bolted the hangers to the frame and tack welded on each corner because I wasn’t 100% sure that’s where they were gonna live, so after tightening the bolts that had come loose I fully welded in all the hangers.

I made a bracket that slides over the frame out of 2 pieces of angle iron and added a couple rivnuts to attach the electric fuel pump.

fuel pump bolted to the bracket.

Bracket and fuel pump in place. I normally carried this fuel pump in my spares for emergencies.
    IMG_4266 2.jpg
I used these when I installed my exhaust system to shield the exhaust from the under seat tank.
    IMG_4329.jpg
    IMG_4330.jpg
I attached them to the frame with stainless steel cable ties
    IMG_4328.jpg
These special pliers from Kswiss make tightening them and cutting them easy.
    IMG_4327.jpg
I used these to protect the fuel lines from the heat of the exhaust.

A friendly reminder…….ALWAYS HAVE FIRE EXTINGUISHER READY IN THE GARGE!
I’ll give myself up so you don’t do what I did.
While trying to get the steering shaft and u-joints out of the JEEP I needed to use a torch on the set screws that I used red Locktite on. I got to close to the plastic cap at the end of the steering column that was covered in oil and it caught on fire, I had a rag in my hand that I tried smothering out the fire but it wasn’t working. I do keep a fire extinguisher in the garage and needed to use it to get this fire out. I didn’t do any damage to anything but the JEEP does look like a powdered donut….lol

First your jeep catches on fire while stuck in a puddle on the Rubicon... Then it catches fire in your garage....
    I don't like this trend!

I'm thinking a flame-job repaint might be in order after this trend!

I'm glad there wasn't any damage other than to your pride. Good PSA, I have a half dozen extinguishers around the shop, but have no idea if they're expired.

Good call, I always keep one handy. Thank goodness you were able to get it out quick.
Although I realized while doing my dad's fuel pump I didn't see one anywhere :susp:
