You guys brought me from completly clueless to semi on track and I really appreciate all your help. I think I've formulated a plan and would like one final criticism on my ideas if you don't mind.

    Tranny...Ford T18

Bellhousing...Drill and tap, possibly weld additional material

Bearing Retainer...Buy Novak T18 bearing retainer already machined for GM bellhousing. $41

Pilot Bushing...Ford to GM pilot bushing. Novak. $15

Throwout Bearing...GM throwout bearing. I assume this is what Novak machined their bearing retainer to fit.FLAPS $15

    Clutch Disc...Ford T18 Clutch Disc FLAPS $58

Pressure Plate...Not really sure on this one. Do I just use a GM pressure plate? FLAPS $47

    Tranny/Tcase Adapter...Novak $460

    Is this going to work?

Those are all the parts I have, or plan to get. I don't have my clutch disk or pp yet. Most places want to sell a matched set. Since we're using a Ford tranny with a GM engine, we have a mixed set. I did find one place locally that will sell these parts separately. I haven't decided whether to use the Centerforce or stock parts yet.
I'm also converting to a hydraulic clutch, so I decided to install hanging pedals. Then I wanted a Dana 30 axle and power brakes, so my tranny upgrade got a little sidetracked!

So I use a Ford clutch disc with a GM pressure plate? is that how this works?

And the already machined down Novak retainer fits a GM throwout bearing, right?

    Yes to both.
The machined retainer also fits the GM bell housing opening.

You are ready to get out your wallet, buy the parts and move forward. :D

Seriously, this thread has helped me re-prioritize getting my T18 swap done.

Not sure if I should have created a new thread for this question or not. I have located 1 or 2 of the scout 1980 dana 300 transfer cases. Correct me if I'm wrong..

I have to pay 500 bucks to buy an adapter to put my spicer18 up to the ford t18. I'm thinking if I took that 500 (or even less) to locate and buy a scout dana 300 instead, I would be spending the same amount of money, get an even lower crawl ratio, have a stronger t-case, and some what shorter drive train since I don't need an adapter. Seems like a no brainer, right?

    So I was wondering

Does this scout 300 bolt right up to the ford t18 or just the jeep t18?

I read these t-cases have a weak output shaft, that if it breaks, is nearly impossible to locate and replace...? Is that true/going to be a problem?

And my last question is, it seems the dana 300 has a centered output shaft as opposed to offset. Does this mean I can't use my offset dana 44?

The Scout 300 has the same bolt up as the 18 transfer case and Dana 20 transfer case. That means you still need an adapter regardless. If you buy the 300 transfer case make sure you get the 6 spline input gear with it as these can be very hard to come by. The Scout 2 300 used the shorter of the two styles of Dana 300 rear output shaft. It's a fine spline unit that is just as strong or stronger than the 18 and 20 rear outputs. There are upgrades for it to a 32 spline unit from Tera Mfg., JB Conversions, AA, etc. but not cheap.
300's are a centered rear output just like a 20, not offset like an 18.
300's stock have a 2.62-1 low range and 1:1 high range which is the lowest of the 3. 20's have a 2.02-1 low range and most 18's have a 2.46-1 low range.

if I had to recover just 2 parts off mine ,it would be the t-18 and texas 300 . I have beat on mine a'plenty and have never had a problem with the output shaft. I hear that bull gear is crazy hard to find though.
