windshield hinges

Attaced are some pics of the hinges on my windshield. I am eventually going to need to replace the windshield, but does anyone sell hinges for intermediate CJ's . As you can see the PO welded the windshield to the bracket so it will not fold down. Thanks

I may be wrong, but that looks like JB weld to me, have you tried to chip a bit off?

 

:iagree: yep, looks like either JB weld or some kind of RTV sealing up any leaks along the hinge & gasket.

Doh, didn't notice the huge straps of steel welded up the sideR)

cut em off, grind smoothe, send out to have powdercoated

 

What $ sink said. Fortunately mrunnell said he had some but the upper hinges are getting doggone hard to find. Even the lowers are fewer and fewer and just a couple of years ago they were everywhere. If you can save yours then I'd go for it. Nickmil

Where in Jersey are you? I think I have a pair of uppers on a rusted windshield frame that came with a CJ-6 I just bought. If you can grind the brace off your lowers and use them with these uppers, let me know. In the meantime, I'll check to make sure they're useable.

 

First glance, the later model cj5 or 7 frame will fit with the later model hinges, unless your doing a total resto. The hinge peices once removed from the frame are pretty solid peices and can probably be saved
