I've got my fan mounted on the front of the radiator and I don't have any issues with overheating. Push or pull, what's the difference as long as you are getting air through the radiator. I assume you've test wired it to make sure it will run "backwards". That being said, I have a high volumn Flexlite pump mounted fan and I only use the electric fan to cool things down during long idle times on hot days etc. I'm not really fond of the sound of a constantly running electric fan.

Cancelled the staun beadlocks in favor of Trailready beadlocks which were ordered today.

bad news is my Atlas is gonna be 3 weeks late

    yeeee hawww!!!

got my "nice" rear end completed today. the disc brake conversion was finalized and the axle was hung with care.

used a hole saw to cut through the frame and sleaved it with 1.75 dom for the shackles.

shackles installed and setting the axle in place. I made three different holes in the shackles on the top side since I am not exactly sure how much lift I will need in the rear to mach the front. this gives me the ability to lower the lift 1-3".

now this is a NICE rear end!!!!

this angle makes the axle look off, but i assure you its dead on.

Tomorrow I will fit the fuel cell and fuel skid plate as well as finish cutting the body where needed. i start shcool next week so things are gonna slow way down.

    left to do:

    install atlas transfer case

    set tires on beadlocks

    install the full hydro steering

install all brake and gas lines

    wire the motor

    install driveshafts

    armour, cage, and paint.....

I am sure I am forgetting sometihing vital, but its getting close. :flag:

I may just be talking nonsense, but from looking back at the photo of your front shackles, wouldn't the bracing on the forward side of the shackle bind into the spring when it compresses? Or does it still need finishing? Just curious, and also, damn, does that rear diff cover ever look sweet.

those shackles were a bit of an experiment, and yes they did bind when the full weight of the vehicle came down on the springs. they have since been altered to provide more clearance, and I will be watching to see how they work at full flex. good eye!!

Just curious: what did you use to get the kingpin off/on? I used an extra long 9/16 lug nut with a 7/8 hex body to index the kingpin on the last one I built. Then spun it on/off with a breaker bar and 5-foot piece of DOM tubing. Or did you buy the correct tool from somewhere?

I took one look at the kingpin head and said oh no, not another one-time use custom tool to buy. Then i read Billavista's install writeup on Pirate 4X4 ( http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billavista/PR-Kingpin/index.html ) and saw what it actually took to take off the kingpin. So I inspected my kingpin and decided that it was in great shape and did not replace it. Everything else was replaced but the kingpin.

Hopefully the other side is in good shape as well. eek what a pita to remove!!!
