I am such a computer illiterate. A while back someone posted a relatively inexpensive 11 Inch Brake kit. hey posted pictures and everything. I've searched (I'm not doing it right I'm sure) and I can't find it. Searched 11 inch brake kit, 11 inch brakes, and I've also search speed bleeder this morning and I don't know how to narrow the search so I don't get hundreds to look through. HELP??

R&P sells complete kits with new drums, hardware, shoes, wheel cylinders, powdercoated backing plates, etc. Everything you need except hoses for $275 per axle plus shipping (without parking brake). They can be reached at 503-557-8911. You will probably speak to either Clint or Paul. Nickmil

Are those things worth a darn? I've often wondered how well they worked, I'm pretty sceptical of stuff like that.

They are the cats a$$ in my opinion and worth every penny they cost. I replaced all 4 of mine with them, front disks and rear drums. This is not a gimmick it is an old idea (check valve) applied to a different product. Simple to use, fill a mason jar or container with about an inch of fluid, put the hose in bottom of the jar or bottle. Hook your hose to the speed bleeder crack the bleeder about ΒΌ turn and go pump away. The air bubbles will come out the hose and as soon as you let off the pedal the check valve will close keeping the air from coming back in, when done close speed bleeder back up and you're done. No 2 person brake bleeding ever again.

Speed bleeders should have been invented (or at least better marketed) years ago. Yes buy them, they are mucho worth it.

    Weeellll....I wouldn't go *that* far.

I have the speed bleeders, and did bleed the brakes myself. But you can't (or I couldn't at least) both pump the pedal and watch the jar for bubbles. I just did a couple m/c full of fluid on each wheel and called it good because I was the only one home at the time, but if you can get help to just watch for bubbles it'll still work better.

 Really!? I'll be dipped. I've wondered about those for years, but didn't want to end up throwing them in the pile of "useless crap I've wasted money on". That's the main reason my '72 Chevy pickup is sitting, it needs a master cylinder and all the fluid replaced and I don't have anyone to help me bleed the brakes. Plus, I can't get the truck in my garage and I have the Silverado anyway.

I guess I'll be that guy who throws a wrench into everything...

I've always bled my brakes just like Mike (Ruffin) described, only I don't have the speed bleeders. It has always worked fine. Did it this way for all 4 wheels when I re-built the flattie, when I re-assembled Lulu, on Granny when she went back together (with all new lines), then again on Lulu when I swapped to 11" drums up front. I'm guessing there might be a small amount of air still in there, but it sure hasn't effected performance.

    YMMV.

I used to use the bleeder line with a valve in it, but they would crack and dry out after a few months years of sitting. Plus with speed bleeders I don't need to store or search for a special tool, any old piece of vacuum line will do.
