We use this at work to clean plugged up egr and oil coolers on the big diesel motors. Works excellent.

So it does cut oily buildup too?

I sell this all the time for cleaning cooling systems.

Drove CJ into work today, Took the long way and tried to drive a little more aggressive to get engine heated up. 187* was about as high as I got her. Alls that is left is to flush again and add coolant/thermostat.

Curious if you resolved your rich condition with the Sniper? I was having similar rich conditions with mine, it didn't want to adhere to the parameters I had set. I chased my tail looking for exhaust and vacuum leaks to no avail. So I eventually purchased the adapter to plug the sniper directly into my laptop (uses the same plug that the touch screen attaches to). I then would drive around for 10 miles or so and upload the learned fuel values to the base tune, after 3 or so cycles of this I had all of my AFRs within my set parameters. I also adjusted my TPS Rate of Change, I made this less sensitive as I was getting feedback from my accelerator pedal.

I’ll start by saying I’m not very familiar with the technical details of EFI. I know the basic A/F ratio is like 14.7 or something.
My idle is about 13 and my cruse is in the 14.? Range.
I get lean for a second when decelerating. I did recently look at the plugs and they were a little darker than I would have liked. I know I can easily change the target AFR but hesitant to change much. So, yea I’m no help.

Fair enough, I also have my cruise set to 14.7 my idle is 13.2 wide open throttle is 12.5. as far as adjustments go, everything I listed in my previous post is very non invasive. None of those parameters are making crazy changes. Essentially what I stated above is a fairly quick/safe way to smooth out your fuel table allowing for less fluctuation while driving. The sniper self learning program is essentially trying to do the exact same thing, but it really will only self learn to an extent. Also the snipers are fairly notorious for having large peaks and valleys in the (self-learned) fuel tables. That may be part of the reason for the strange dips. I highly recommend going to the YouTube academy and watching some sniper fuel table tuning videos. Also if you do get the laptop attachment you can save your current fuel table as a backup before making any adjustments, so if you do make an adjustment that has a negative effect you just transfer files.

My problem with the sniper initially was an excessively rich condition. It would idle fine at 13.2 + or -, but under load and at cruise it would dip down and stay at 11.8-12. This is what caused me to chase my tail. I looked into radio frequency interference as well as exhaust and vacuum leaks and couldn't find anything significant. I even swapped in a brand new O2, and that didn't solve anything. That's why I finally was tired of trying to do anything on the handheld and ended up buying the laptop connection. And after about 30 minutes I had everything running smooth and well within the set parameters. I know your cooling issue is first priority, but it's also nice to squeeze a few more MPG out of the CJ :bananatool:

After you have this fuel table completed you disable the learn function?

One of the main reasons I went with Sniper is going from sea level to 10,000 feet every summer I wasn’t comfortable with changing jets and float levels that much.

From everything I have read, most people reduce the learn capabilities down to around 10% or so in order to reduce the chance of the tune getting contaminated by an exhaust leak or vacuum leak that may develop, as well as to allow compensation for altitude.

Starting at the 30 minute mark on this video it goes into a little more depth about reducing the learn function. This is direct from Holley so it seems like a good place to start. And this is for the Sniper 2, but the same idea applies to the earlier models.

I generally would rather Kyle or Rich carry jacks for me to use. But Cynthia insists we have our own. :madwife:

It’s just a piece of angle iron with two bolts welded into it.
