A right size O-ring or rubber gasket can help solve that drip.

    I’ll definitely try again
    I hate something like this
I’m gonna have to go with something thicker I think

Mine was leaking at the speedo cable, so when I tossed in the 4-speed I took the cable off, filled the threads with a bunch of Permatex anerobic gasket maker, and cranked it back on with the channel locks. It isn't leaking so far.

I like to squirt the gasket maker on the threads in a little dot (like toothpaste) and use my finger to run it around in the threads until I have two or three threads filled with the stuff before I put the part on. It's worked for me so far.

Shim pack? or the speedometer cable connection? If it's the shim pack, remove cap, get new shims( same thickness), spray each shim with copper spray gasket sealer and reassemble. Nice 3B,wish I still had mine. I should be kicked in the rear end for selling it.

Thanks, I think I will at some point. My flatfender will always be with me but I need more room for camp gear. I also want a rig to wheel in to old age...

    Looks good
Looking at that signature line, it has some really good equipment on it already.

It has a lot of good hard parts. It's getting a TH400, fuel injection, Hei distributor, engine lightly refreshed (timing chain, gaskets etc.)
The rockers need replaced (rhino lined, rotted from the inside out) sliders installed, remove the body lift (trim rear wells probably) and a shackle reversal upfront (trying hard to not scope creep and soa the front) possibly install a ram.

I added an o ring on the speedometer gear, shaft, basically inside the nut. It may gradually work itself off the shaft to the outside. IDK
When the weather is warm enough to drive it, I will report back

Fabbed up a flywheel cover for the 3B. It was wide open
    upload_2025-1-14_20-33-34.jpeg
the 5/16 keysteel is just to strengthen the cover as it spans to both sides of the bell housing.
It will allow the starter to be removed without removing the cover (I hope)
I’m in the CAD stage (cardboard) for a better skid plate also

I’m working on a skid plate
Here’s where I’m at right now.
Main plate and 2” sides are 1/4” thick.
The 4 braces opposing each other are 1/8x1 1/4 angle iron. Ignore the bolts hanging down, I’m waiting on some different ones. The front is angled up some and there will be a snubber of some sort between the skid and the T18, like a trans mount, mounted solid to the skidplate but not touching the transmission.
    What do you think?
    Too much ?
    Not Enough?
    Wasted my time?
Front view. Still needs welded across the bend

I’ve still got a bunch of corners to round off and weld the sides to the main plate
Trim , clean up and paint
    Looking back

I mean, obviously you're still putting the thing together, but I'd probably be blowing some good sized holes in the floor of the skidplate, just to ameliorate the crap collection that will happen. They do tend to trap stuff up there.

I would double up the angle iron into a triangle to the frame on each corner of the skid. Or at least on the passenger rear where contact with the parking brake drum would be a big problem.
