Twin stick a D18 ?? Why not. Mine is set up that way. If you leave out the interlock pill you can have two wheel low. If you create the linkage, then the stick closest to tranny would be 2wheel/4wheel. The other lever would be low/neut/high.
Go for it, if you can't find the factory parts for it.

Since you are going to have to take it halfway apart to change over to a twin stick shifter, have you considered replacing the bearings, seals and gaskets while you are in there that far?

you're going to have to pull it half way apart to get the interlock out anyway. i don't know what nick's prices are these days, but it'd be worth the twin stick setup seeing as though you've lost the pivot for the single shifter on the tranny. way back when i bough it from him he had a brand "new to me" housing cleaned up, shifters, shift rails, seals, and gaskets (basically a complete kit). i don't know if the endplay changes from the castings, but you might have to reset the endplay to... at that point replacement bearings are only a couple hits more.

and not to hijack this thread, but i seem to have lost a detent spring... anyone know if krage or turner sales them? they don't list them on their exploded view and i'm having a bit of trouble waking up during working hours these days...

As much as part sahve been swapped aorund, how cna I tell fi this happens to be a twin stick case originaly? Ya never know.

Could I bring something off of the cross member to mount the pivet point for a single shifter? I can normal make anything I need, or have it made for cheap....

Anyone got a picture of a single shifter I can see?

Shifter is supposed to mount to tranny on single shift..... I use a little thing called fabrication... Just need a picture of a single shif tto see if I think I can make it work, or if I should just twin stick it..... not much need for a twin stick on a vehicle probably very seldom ever even see 4wd again...

Grinsha that looks like a twin stick front cap, with the levers and pin removed?

That pic shows the same rust proofing I use: Poor 15 (poor thing has leaked about 15 pints) But hey, at least nothing is going to rust and it also works as a soundproof inhibitor as well as a low buck trail marking system, and an extra cushion backup for the skid plate.

And my jeep has the garage parking spot marked like dogs are fond of doing on their favorite shrub.

The shift rails are different than the ones on a twin stick. There are no notches for levers. Other than the rails and linkage i am sure that the front bearing retainers are interchangable.

As soon as i can clear a place in the garage i will take some better pics of the linkage. It might be a couple days. I'm not crawling through a snow bank to take a couple pics.

The tranny and Tcase dont leak a drop in my FC.
All of the oil & crud came from the Small block chevy.
The previous owner didnt put a road draft tube on the engine so all of the blowby and oil vapor sprayed all over the undercarriage.

Ive got the tcase off the tranny, and ready to be taken apart...

I dont understand how the single shift works? Can some one explain.....

Anyone with twin stick setup pictures? Hopefully I can decide which is better for me to go with... My shifter is somehos going to have to end up being almost directly over the center of the tcase, so I need to figure a way, to rout eit over there, and make it work..

    you've got the linkage right.

the single stick is hard to describe and i've taken it off of both of mine. i've got the linkages laying around somewhere, but i can't quite remember where. honestly, it's a ton of work fabbing it up (low/high linkage meets up with a peice of linkage going from 2/4 to the lever). it's not alot of things that would be needed, but figuring out the spacing would get a little tricky. i'll see if i can find things later tonight to give you an idea of what it looks like.
