I was thinking about milling one side of the shock mount flat and putting them on the opposite side of the spring plate so they are sitting higher. I need to fit the plates up to the springs and see if there is enough room for that.

What is the offset hole spacing onnyour plates? I made mine with .75" spacing and just pilot holes since my material is thinner. I should at least make my spacing match there's.

There looks like there is enough room to mount the shock on the top side instead of the bottom. IMG_3033.jpg

Why not just weld a bracket to the axle tube?
Double shear and affords more protection for the shock.
Welding the shock mounting pin straight to the spring plate is reserved for only cost cutting OEM assembly line products.

Ummm….cause I didn’t think about it, I was stuck in my head with what was already there. Thanks Kyle, sometimes it takes someone standing back to see things.:crazy::banghead:

    Yes, 2x2 box tube.
That particular tube I use was cut from an old Quaker Oats factory we tore down in the early 2000’s.
Ruff Stuff or WFO may offer an axle tube shock bracket that will work for you.

Didn’t get much time in garage today. Was able to get the JEEP up on jack stands and start removing the u-bolts, (had to cut 2 of them).
    I IMG_3042.jpg
    IMG_3043.jpg
took some measurements before removing the u-bolts ,all weight was off the springs.

    old vs new spring plates.

I measured and tac welded the shock mounts on the rear axle, then pulled it all apart and finished welding it and gave everything a coat of paint today. I’ll put it all back together tomorrow and take some finished pictures.

    Knocked off #1,#3.
Dash bar and harness bars shouldn’t take that long, just ordered Parts that I need to start this project. The fuel injection will be last thing this winter, I’ll order up the parts for this in the next week or 2.
