Bill, don't worry, your plans are going better than mine, I would completely rather deal with an engine and my machine shop than try to fabricate the front end of the heep, and figure out steering safely.

Welp, here's where I stand as of tonight.
I have bar stock for the Saginaw plate, time to cut it out tomorrow.
The entire front frame horns are boxed, welded, and ready to go. Going to mount my bumper in this fashion:
2nd to last picture, welded 3/8th plate with 4 grade 8 bolts per side
    http://www.earlycj5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39702&highlight=replace+frame+horns
Then I'll put the tub on to the chassis to run a mock steering linkage system (black pipe)
and weld the plate on, then bolt the box on as shown in McRuffs write up in tech.
Bumper will be 3/16th 2x4, winch plate recessed in, need to get
    A) Roller fairlead (steel cable)
    or
    B) Hawse (synthetic) To make sure it will all fit with receiver that will be welded on the bottom.
Ahh, theres 8 patches ready to be cut and welded (cut the body tonight) tons of little holes, then brace it, replace floors after I figure out how to get the darn tool box out
Primmed 1 coat the front clip, the body will be when I'm done welding. Absolutely no rust (But I've been keeping it inside ;)).
So...Tomorrow...Lets see what I get done. The winds picked up so no priming until Friday or there after.

Tool box comes out by cutting lots and lots of spot welds. I didnt remove mine when I replaced the floor only cut the spot welds that where in the section I was replacing.

I've found the stitch welds in the floor, and cut them. Are there spot welds in there as well? man that totally makes sense to me now!

the stitch welds should be on the back of the tool box contecting to the rear floor, everything else should be spot welds.

Mine seems the only spot welds are around the one lip that mates with the body side, could the 2A have had a different weld system then the M38?

could, I have never played with a cj2a before.

Body work is 1/2 way done I think, will need some bondo  Floors are still out.
Finally ordered some hammers that may actually work to remove dents and not dimple metal.
Got a ton of holes filled in, ran out of gas, need to figure out which ones are stock.
One more patch, 4 more to be buzzed in. Uhh... Oh yeah, got the steering plate cut, need to notch it, bumper mounts cut, need to cut the bumper and box it. Then mount the winch and assemble the front end. Trying to decide on DJ column or an Ididit.
    And that's about it.

Sammy go to the wrecking yard and find yourself a tilt column out of a standard trans GM....you'll save some money and be happy you've got tilt;)

But wont it look bubba'd and butchered? I mean sure it will be easier for my long legs to fit in, but I don't want it looking hacked...

A DJ column will make it look almost stock. Just remeber if you are going with power steering the big wheel on the dj column might make it turn to quick, my brother had/has that problem with his 1974 that he converted to power.

I'm sticking with manual saggy, so I would need the big wheel... I guess the tilt would be comfy, but looking for a DD now it's hard to find one without devouring my car budget (14K) so Jeep funds may go quick. Ididit would be nice but they're super $$
I'll get pictures then Bill, I just want to finish grinding it.

Sounds good Andrew, let me finish the body work and primer first though, and clean up, the garage is a mess R)
I got your PM too, I heard on the local forum there's a 74 laying out there, I'm going to go try and grab all the steering parts from it, not sure when I'll be able to get out there though...

    Alrighty-
Big day today :D Got the body mocked up for the steering mockup, then pull it all down again :( and put the floors in and put in bondo, primer, paint. Anyway, is there such thing as undercoating? and is it worth it? Seems easier than painting R)
    Here's pics.
    Rather larger than I thought!

Rear-still need to burn in some patches and grind and bondo
Inside with mocked steering linkage (black pipe) to know how to go [IMG]
    Needs bigger tires!!
    WS vented :D
    [IMG]
Sometimes I make a mess
Boxed and ready to have spacers
    [IMG]
    Plate
    [IMG]
Heres to weld on the front end to bolt the bumper too
    [IMG]
New bumper to have the belleview recessed in 3/16 and just beveled, slanted as it was before was a PIA- the jack slid off a lot  R)

And yours truly to show how high it is.

Hey hippie, you have my tape measure!!!!!!!!:D
Seriously, I have one just like that, but haven't been able to find it for a month now.
Looks like a whole Jeep! Very nice.
(disregard the hippie comment; I just looked in the mirror)

That's funny! I bought that when my old one tore and my dad lost his and bought a second of the same! The half increments are nifty!
And funny you say that, I tied it in a poney tail the other night for the first time and said "I'm pulling a Patrick!"
    Thanks, I think it's nearly complete :D
