I searched but couldn't find this anywhere. Maybe it's because its common knowledge. This is the first clutch I've ever had to replace.

I have two t15 pressure plates and flywheels. What are the signs of wear or a need to replace that I should be looking for on these?

If I can reuse either one of them without having to get the machined or replaced I would like to mount it in front of my t176. They are both 10.5" clutches... I should be able to do that, right? Throwout bearings and forks are different so I'll get those specifically for the t176.

    Thanks

Iirc the spline count and/or diameter is different from the T-176 and T-15. The pilot bearing is different as is the bellhousing depth and bolt pattern.....
If you want to use the T-176 you need all the proper clutch parts and bellhousing.

Well, the flywheel goes with the engine, not the transmission. There's no such thing as a T-15 (or T-176) flywheel. You need to use a 304 flywheel. You have to use your judgement whether the surface is smooth enough. If there are chatter marks or blue spots, it needs surfacing.

Re the pressure plates (clutch cover), most would replace them. A machine shop wpuld not surface - they instead would scrap it or turn it in as a core for a reman clutch kit. If money is tight, you can reuse the cover if the moving parts are not badly worn. The pressure plate appears to be the same for the CJ 304 T-15 and T-176 apps, but the disk will be different (different splines - as Nick mentions). Get a reman disk and a new throw-out bearing.
