We're having a problem with the tube type NDT tires on our '48 Willys ranch jeep. Between mesquite thorns and cactus thorns we spend more time fixing flats than driving. Is there any sealant (slime product or other) available that we could use to help? We do use one of the slime products on our 4x4's but they have tubeless tires and we've been told it wouldn't work on tube type tires. The jeep never leaves the ranch so we're game for almost anything.

Slime seems to work really well in my mountain bike tires and those have tubes.

There is a Slime product meant for wheelbarrow tires with tubes. Might try that.

I know with mountain bikes, we have used Stan's tubeless sealant, and if there is a bigger hole, we throw a scoop of coffee grounds in with the mix. Sounds crazy, but it works. I am not sure how it will work in your case, but the grinds help the sealant close the bigger holes.

For my shredder tractor I run all the tires without tubes and with the tire sealant sold at John Deere. If you have mesquite thorns to deal with it is the only way to go. And yes, those NDT's should be able to be run tubeless on your stock rims, unless you have the WWII combats.
Buy it in a 5 gal bucket and split it between all four or five tires and ya should be set to go.

Or go to your local farm tire repair place and ask them for an opinion. You could always go for foam filled but that is a lot of weight to hang on a jeep axle and at higher speeds you are not gonna like the ride at all...:D

Thanks again guys. I'll look into the tubeless idea F Bill. Also, I ran across this site while searching. Trying to find an independent third party user to get their opinion.

I used a quart of slime in each 700-16 ndt on my Throckmorton county Tx deer lease jeep. We had plenty of mesquites and cactus up there.

We used slime in our enduro (dirt bike) tires with tubes in Africa almost as a necessity.. Seemed to work ok.. Lots of pinch holes, sharp rocks and thorns..

In France, wa have an US sealant sold for farming machines, tractors, and it works well. Probably at John Deere shop you have similar product.
