IIRC, there are captured nuts inside the cowl that the hood hinges bolt to.
No brackets, just two bolts and done.

    Are you thinking windshield hinges?

    W/S hinges are same deal.
    Captured nuts inside the cowl.

The drivers side has a support bracket but the passenger side doesn't There are welded nuts as part of the cowl regardless. I have two Jeeps without the bracket and both hood hinges thread right into the cowl. I can probably get a pic of the bracket tomorrow as I have a couple loose ones.

Nick is right on this one, I remember my '69 has the bracket on the driver side that is removeable, and the passenger side has a small steel plate welded to the underside of the cowl with 2 threaded holes in it. I know about this plate because I drilled out the spot welds that hold it on to the cowl so I could move it to adjust the position of the cowl side hood hinge on my '70.
