Has anyone used an exhaust tape wrap to help control the amount of heat coming off the pipes off the manifold. My passengers are going to get their toes burned. Just trying to figure out methods to reduce the heat transfer to the foot board.

I'd mount a heat shield first. Cheap, easy and effective. Get some ca 20ga steel (old computer cases are a good source) and make a shield to go between the pipe and the floor. You want a substantial air gap on both sides of the shield.

My Jeep already has a shield for the factory pipe routing - maybe your does too.

Back in the 60s my folks had a 1959 Dodge station wagon. We took that car to Yellowstone from LA, towing a rented travel trailer. Before the trip, they had the muffler replaced. The shop mounted the muffler too close to the floor, and the jute under the carpet ignited. We put out the fire with water from the thermos jug, and I sat next to the hot spot, occasionally pouring water on it until we found a shop to repair the exhaust. A nice fellow at a garage in Provo UT had a slab of asbestos board, and wired it up between the muffler and the floor. He also sold us a pair of good used tires - nylon cord - they'd go thump thump thump on cold mornings, even in Sunny California.

No asbestos boards are available today, but the steel shield and air gap will do well too.

In my experience it can. E hard to keep the wrap from unravelling and can trap moisture when the exhaust cools causing rust issues. I'd go with a heat shield if possible or re route the exhaust.
