i was going to load up the cj amc 20 onto the trailer and bring it to the scrap yard when i was looking at the drums. i noticed they looked identical to the ones i pulled off from a 74 cj with a dana 44. these are the finned ones from a 78 amc 20 and the ones i pulled off the 74 are finned as well. a little measuring and they are the same. is this right?
i didn't look at the backing plates but are they the same as a dana 44 with 11" drums? i mean that would be another source for the 11" brake set-up right? or at least the drums?

well a quick look at autozone and they are in fact the same drums for a 74 and a 78 cj5. thats for the finned ones only. now i would need to find out if the backing plates would be the same

The drums are the same as is much of the brake hardware. The backing plates are not the same and will not interchange. The mounting is offset different.

ahh. i thought it was too good to be true. guess the axle is off to the great gig in the sky and keep the drums for future use. doesn't seen to be a calling for this axle. seems like you can't even give it away. thanks for the response nick.
