t15 tranny

    my t15 trans pops out of gear in reverse what is wrong and to i have to do a complete tear down or can i fix it with the shift cover off thank

    Could be the detents in the shifter top, worn gear reverse/first gear sleeve, worn reverse idler gear or shaft, worn thrust washers or bearings for the reverse idler gear, worn output bearing. could also be a loose transfer case input gear retaining nut.
    Does it do it under acceleration? Deceleration? When? Did you check the lube level and condition? Is it possible the shifter is binding on the shifter boot or hitting the body?
    Not many responses because you've supplied us with no info other than transmission type.

    Also did this seem to happen all at once or slowly get worse over time?
