I got to measuring the jeep for a rear driveshaft. I knew the rear axle pinion angle was not right. The output of the tcase is 3 degrees. The yoke on the axles is -9 degrees :( The issue is the springs i am using are from an XJ so i believe the perches are welded on to the rear axle differnt than the CJ. So I have to ask it, but i kind of know the answer already. Is it just not wise to try and get 12 degree wedges made for the rear axle? Or just go ahead and cut off the old perches and weld them in the better position. I just hate cutting off the old perches, they were always a PIA for me to torch off and now that i have the axle under the jeep i am getting lazy. I would use steel wedges, i know not to use aluminum. What do you say?

12 degrees is way too much to use shims. Like BKD said, do it once, do it right. Fwiw my rule of thumb is anything over 3 degrees cut off the pads and do it right. There are issues with the angle and contact of the centering bolt with any more than that.
