you making good progress you will be there in no time, just remember don't rush it. I rushed a couple things that I shouldn't have.
haha texasblues you talking about the color reminded me of what I was doing today. I was walking home and I see my jeep and I was like damn that looks good.

Got some pictures of stuff that I did yesterday. Tomorrow, I will do more not sure what but maybe I should paint my pulleys, install mount a Ammo container that is a tool box in back, and fix the tail light wire so it turns on with the headlight switch.
    Alternator bracket installed

I thought an update was due.. I been busy with my college class lately haven't got much done.

okay, so my fuel pump toggle switch went out, I went ahead and rewired it too. The switch is now in the dash sorry no picture I thought I took one.
I then went to go test the jeep by going on a trip, to Bartlett Springs, Lakecounty. The jeep did great easy roads, but had plenty of power (retimed it and dropped the idle down) and I broke 55 which I might add is safer when I drop the tire pressure for some reason.
on my way home however my throw out bearing is officially gone and need to replace the clutch... to bad (I knew it was going to happen soon) It was only 55 miles round trip.
Since i'm not going to be driving my jeep for three weeks, I'm going to get a bunch of small stuff done, like touch up the paint that I scratched and other stuff.

must say some pretty views being so high up there.

I believe this is the highest point on the road, which is really need seeing the drop next to you.
got to admit washboard, no shocks, and posi traction make for some fun around turns. Nothing to bad :)

My dad and I drove separate vehicles. We never been up to bartlett, yet we lived here for about 20 years...

Here is one of the creek, which is extremely cold

I saw one fish about 1 inch long, but no large. I was told there was, maybe at the reservoir. (I will have to get fishing license and go check :) )

I got some updates for ya all,

I got caught up in finishing spring semester and starting summer so I got some good pictures to share with you. Anyways as you know my throw out bearing went out along with clutch, I pulled them and they were gone....

I got the new clutch and throw out bearing, I will get a rebuild kit in the mail soon for my transmission which i thought was a t86 but its a t-14 wondered why it was so easy to downshift...

while anticipating the rebuild kit for my trans I installed the clutch and bell housing, cleaned them up and painted. Also put some new bolts in no more dirty rusty bolts :)

I also got a chance to get a step bit from harbor freight and install my cigerette lighter to charge ipods on trips :)
also learned do not use cheap tape on your paint you will pay if you do ...I am really glad I didn't screw up the hole for the lighter
    [IMG]

Picked up a new throttle cable and have that installed because I lost the nut to the other and its in between metric and american go figure
    [IMG]

Started fixing my steering wheel something I should of done before I painted the jeep but oh well I will next time :)

I'm farther than this last picture I got to sand a little more and put a little more jb weld to fill some small holes then sand and find some vinyl dye (paint)

Hopefully I will have more progress to post and more pictures. Going to order some good parts from walcks too :)

Good job on the steering wheel Piff, I hope the JB weld idea works, there are lots of cracked steering wheels that could be saved. Hope the tranny kit comes in before school starts again!

72cj5 thank you funny thing I was looking back at some of the pictures and I can't believe what I got involved with.

TexasBlues: haha, I was thinking there needs to be less people were I live, what is Atlanta equivalent to LA in California?

Homersdog: I believe the JB weld thing should work, there was a discussion on this site couple years back about it, can't remember which forum members did it, but never herd any problems. I'm hoping for tomorrow for the trans kit, but if not I will install next weekend. Stats and Speech should come before the jeep doesn't mean it happens :)

Hey Piff... last count a couple years ago was 5 MILLION in the metro area... something like a 20 county spread the encompasses it...

our perimeter, I-285, is like a 60 mile long NASCAR track... bumper to bumper and 80 mph...

needless to say, i dont get on it much... AND downtown... there are SO many streets with 'Peachtree' in the name, that the city mandated a few years ago, that NO MORE streets could have 'Peachtree' in the name within the perimeter...

ive never been to LA, but my brother lived in Holly-Weird for about 15 years... says the traffic was INSANE

haha, I got 10,000 people in my town and you probably don't even see 1/4 of them in a day (more like 100). that sounds insane, ya I been to LA and its sounds like a cake walk compared to Atlanta.
Are there allot of peaches in Georgia?

I finally got my rebuild kit, got to work on a speech for class before I put it together. Looking forward to Friday getting last of the parts like a windshield wiper :)

I got my latex gloves, paper towels and need to get some petroleum jelly and then I can start assembly.
I'm doing it in the house because I don't want animals or people bothering the parts. (its organized too)

theres SOME peaches here in GA... but mostly of the lower quality, canning (canned) variety... the REAL good ones come from SC... although they (peach growers) are bringing the other good ones back to the area...

nice job on the tranny... looks like youre doing it in the living room!

i have to break mine apart from the TC and BH and then rip into it and see whats up.. i am ASSUMING its the T-150 because its a 3 speed with a typical H pattern... with reverse all the way left and up... guss i ll know more when i get it apart and post a thread

keep it going piff... it looks great!

Its my bedroom actually safest place.
you will know which transmission you have by numbers, haha, i made mistake by assuming it was something else. From my understanding t-14 wasn't offered in 66 but i have one. I got to visit the East Coast one of these days.

I got lots of parts, repairs to show you guys, going to be a busy weekend got Stats and speech hw too. I should wright my speech on: why we shouldn't get a speech hw on weekend so I can install a transmission. haha

I installed them on both sides need to get a better picture, and make the nuts fit a little tighter. It is so nice to finally have these emblems, now people will know i have a tux. (kinda too bad i'm missing rims, bumpers and allot of other stuff.)

I like this kit but I don't know how to install the wiper, I think shaft is too long. I will end up posting in tech section to figure it out.

If my transmission rebuild works I will post pictures too, and it will be bright enough for more pictures tomorrow.

Please post details on your transmission rebuild. Mine looked good so I didn't overhaul it but it is now making some growling noises. I think I'll be going through mine this winter.

I will defiantly post detail on the trans, because I didn't not know what was involved and would have liked too. biggest problem when I took it apart I took the transmission apart wrong and got some pieces backwards.... So, I got to take apart the main shaft again.

here is start of trans rebuild I know I did the bottom right :)
    semi organized right here
    [IMG]
Needle bearings in Reverse Idler gear (Just a heads up I might get some of the names confused)
holding the washer and needle bearings is a pain, I would recommend finding a dummy shaft or something that would keep the pins from falling.

Fancy tools I used to hold the shaft inside the cluster shaft to hold the needle bearings inside to keep them from falling.

Shaft holds the bearings then you slide Eye liner, in and use other shaft to slide broke make up brush in on the side. (is it a pain yes it took me five tries, wish I still had access to lath, and I would of took some material off the old shaft and cut it down to have a perfect dummy shaft)

What I didn't take a picture of is, I took the old shaft and tapped it on the other side just to make sure non of the pins dropped then switched sides and checked.
I didn't want to drive that shaft into any pins. As for aligning the key I had to tap the small shaft out of the reverse idler gear in order to alight the rods.
What I used to drive these large pins out is a piece of steel rod (1/2 diameter don't have a tape or ruler on me) that I bought at the hardware store.

Top Part this is the part I messed up....

Because this is backwards I had to go take a hour drive down to harbor freight, and buy a puller because I could not get the bearing off. Got some other good stuff too, I have yet to pull off the bearing and will do Thursday.

Once I fix it I and test the transmission I will post rest, but its pretty easy just slide on your new synchros, put lock rings in right place install then install bearings.

in mean time I thought I would show you all that I got emblems mounted and bumperettes, cowl seal. I'm dying to drive my jeep around town, can't wait. (new clutch, rebuilt trans, transfer case that doesn't leak, wipers , music man what more could a guy ask for.) Still have to add gaskets to my transfer case too.

    Hey Piff!--

    hows the rebuild coming?

my tranny IS in fact a T150 and i am going to rebuild it... i pulled it apart from the TC over the weekend and was wondering where you got your kit?

it appears that i am missing a piece (may be in the TC) and one of my gears is scarred up...

i know our trannys arent the same, but i ll be watching this until i get mine started...

    keep us posted!

TexasBlues: haha i just thinking about how I haven't seen you post any on your build lately and wondering how it was going?
but anyway I got my transmission rebuild kit from HermTheOverDrive guy, along with my clutch. Give herm a call and he probably has the gear you need too.

My trans is rebuilt and working, however its popping out of gear, shh i took it to a trans shop to get it checked out because the clutch and noise was bothering me, guy drove it told me good job everything is right, but i want to look at your shifter it shouldn't pop out of gear like that (nice guy this is all under free estimate.) Nice to have second opinion specially when I have never driven a car with a new clutch.. I will post pictures of rest of trans rebuild after finals.

74Renegade: haha it is a model, it just goes in a jeep :), i'm am so glad I did it right there I would of bet money that I would of lost a roller pin or two if I did it on cement. Its a little hard on my knees though..
