just finished restoring my 62 cj5. i had pulled the engine and trans. transmission got light rebuild at a local shop. they replaced the 2nd syncro and gear. put new seals in and i reinstalled. everything works great. but the front transmission seal leaks. the last thing i want to do is pull the trans again, take it back and have another new front seal put in. i'm thinking of just letting it leak and then checking the oil level once and a while and adding some when neccessary. the leak isn't isn't horrible but it's enough to drive me crazy. hard to quantify how much the leak is. maybe a tablespoon after a drive. it is ghetto to let it leak like that?

The T-90 doesn't have a standard seal on the input. It has a felt piece that is sandwiched by the input shaft and the front bearing retainer. It's common for these to seep/lightly leak as they are not like a modern seal. Unfortunately, these old Jeeps do have a tendency to mark their territory.

The only real fix I've found is to replace the input bearing with a sealed unit.

How long you can let it slides depends on how long it takes the loose gear oil to find the clutch disc. Maybe you can get some waranty work. Did they put the slinger/baffle disc back in?
