So here is my problem... It seems that the whole right side of my jeep is dead...lights wise that is. I have no right turn signals front or back no right break light but I do have right front marker lights working... Im new to the whole rewiring thing so I am haveing problems figuring out where to start... I took apart the turn signal switch and touched 12 volts to all of the terminals, I can get the left side to light up but not the right. I also checked the plug just on the inside of the firewall the same way I was able to get all of my frontights left and right to light up this way... So my question is whats next? Should I be looking for a comon wire under the dash that has a bad conection? How should I procede? Again I am new to the whole wiring thing so anything helps...

First place to start is to the wiring diagram. Tail/brake lights are in-series, while the turn signals are seperate (obviously).

Does the back-right running light have power? It's supposed to be in-series with the tail light.

Have you tried testing the lamp assembly to see if there's power going to the sockets? Bad bulbs?

    Does your hazard switch work?
The turn signals/brake lights go through that ,too.
You can take it apart (if you are careful) and clean the contacts.

All of these circuits are grounded through the body and frame. Check to make sure that your grounds are good, whether that be at where the lights are bolted to the body, or if they have a ground pigtail to the body. Very common problem.

Then start tracing the circuit through, using a multimeter and the wiring diagram. There is a '74 factory manual at www.oljeep.com - it will include your wiring diagram.

FWIW, you'd get more replies/ traffic if you used a more descriptive thread title.

the issue is more than likely in the turn signal switch

Check simple things first always likemconnections and especially grounds. Jeep CJ's ground through the tail lamp housings and are exposed to the elements. I'd check the ground there and the bulb socket first as
Those are the most likely culprits. Then work your way up the system

Well I got it figured out today. It was as simple as cleaning the conections on the front bulb and reconecting a broken wire in the rear. I also replaced the break switch and cleaned the terminals in the turn signal switch. Thank you for all the advise. I will try to keep my thread topics to the point...
