I need advice how to replace exhaust valve guides on my F134 - CJ5 from 1960.
Is there any lock or clip that holds that guide on place and must be removed before trying to force them out? I made a special tool from the piece of hard steel rod with two diameters, one side goes inside to the valve guide and the other is almost the same diameter as guide itself. Than I use hammer to try to force that guide into the engine block. So far no luck. Any help?
    Thanks

Does the F134 have bronze guides from the factory? I would have thought that the valves rode directly on cylinder head or block iron, like most cars. Bronze guides are usually a high-quality repair of worn guides.

That said, I have a high opinion of my capabilities, and this is not something I'd try to do myself. I'd advise you to take the head or block to a reputable machine shop and let them recondition the guides.

They must be machined to fit. You cannot beat them out or in with a hammer. They are precision fit and also interference fit. If not done right you are looking at catastrophic engine failure

we changed them out at the shop a lot...we sold a lot of guides over the counter
    probably still have some
measurements are given in the FSM for proper install
not that hard on an F4; knock them out, knock them in per the FSM
they are steel (or something similar, not bronze)
a shop may have to ream the new ones after installation

Walck's has the guides for $3.10 each. Press fit. Might call them and see what the best way to install is.
