Im getting ready to put in a new set of point and condenser in the jeep. has a chevy v8 with the GM 1-piece type points and condenser in it now. Do I need to put the same type in it or can I use the seperate type, Points with seperate condenser. The current set is just one unit, and is the one piece type better?

I like the separate type, because you can use a feeler gauge to set them in the field. Once i use a match book as feeler, also a business card will work.

You can with the uniset as well. I set them with a feeler gauge when I install them then fine tune the dwell while it's running.

I carry a uniset in the Jeep in case the Pertronix craps. I installed it, set the dwell, then took it back off. It *should* be pretty close if I were to re-install...

Yes. It’s a points to electronic conversion that bolts in the same place as the points.

If you’re thinking of converting let me know first. I’ve got one I’m no longer using and I’ll sell it for half the price of new.
