I finding 2 different options for a replacement gas cap a vented Omix Ada 17726.02 and one with a check valve 17726.03. I've read my service manual and it's not really specific it talks about both and the use of a fuel cannister which I do not have. My vehicle is a 1970 CJ5 with a 225 under seat tank.

Side question exactly how many gallons is the under seat tank?

I don't know exactly but when bone dry it takes between 10.4 and 10.5 gallons to fill mine. I think they are considered 10 gallon tanks though. The under seat tanks definitely need the vented cap with check valve unless you have another vent installed. I don't know if the '71 vintage used a canister, maybe CA models did, not sure. I believe '72 and newer did. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will chime in on that.
