Flat towing with a T176 / D300

    I have read conflicting opinions on this so thought I would ask here....

    Flat towing a CJ5 with a T176 and D300 ... should the T176 be in first gear? (Obviously the Tcase must be in neutral)

    With as much conflicting information as I've read about this subject, I would recommend just disconnecting the driveshaft.

    Better safe than sorry

    Drop the drive shaft. I posted the pics Dante linked to. Those pics were a customers Dana 300 that was flat towed. Very little could be saved. He ended up having to purchase a complete transfer case. Despite what some folks say theyve been doing for years, just drop the driveshaft. I've seen that happen many times, although rarely that bad
