How much longer is a CJ7 front clip than a CJ5? I'm looking at putting my CJ6 body on a YJ frame that I have to stretch 6", but I think I will have additional frame length at the front that I could use additional body length to cover.

The same, as long as you are comparing the same years.

Ok, let me re-phrase this, how much longer are the longer front clips CJ5 or CJ7 than the earlier CJ's?

I have seen 4.0's I6's in short nose CJ's The best setup I have seen is.. the grill was swapped for a DJ grill and the inner part was cut out.. Its a different look, but it doesn't sound like you are keeping this thing stock anyway!

I think I have located a motor so hopefully I can get started on it this weekend. Yes it is a C6 it is in a fullsize Bronco w/ a 300 I6 in front of it. I am hoping it will fit width wise I haven't really thought about that being an issue but I am going to hope. If it does not fit my buddy has a few Np435's I am sure I can get one of them.

Alright I got a motor found for sure. It is an 87' Fuel Injected 5.0 with everything all on it, even has the fuel lines all the way to the tank. Should be some pics or a build thread coming shortly.

Well a change in plan again, the guy with the 87' motor all of a sudden won't answer my callls or respond back to me. But I found another motor that I am suppossed to be getting tonight, it is out of a 1994 F150. So anyways game plan is still to have it in the Jeep by the end of the weekend, probably without a trans since I still have to pull it but I at least want to have my motor in. Long term goal is to have the Jeep drivable with new axles, motor, trans, and t-case in about 6 weeks. Then I will do the cage and get the seats in with all of the other goodies. This motor will probably be converted to carb for the summer and then next winter I will get all the EFI stuff on it but I can't go through the summer without a wheeling rig.

Well the motor is in, the mounts were surprisingly easy to make. I pretty much just ripped off the design of the advanced adapters mounts. I am going to pull the tub back off I just had it set on there so I would know where to position the motor. Should have the trans and t-case in after this weekend then it is time to bolt the body down and start on the wiring and cage and fuel lines and brake lines and axle swap and damn this list is long.

C6. I am going auto because I let me nine year old and thirteen year old drive quite frequently wheeling and it is just easier for them. That and I already have a good small block C6

Alright I am planning for the next stage and getting the parts ready and that will be the axle swap. In the rear I am just doing a spring over with stock springs and a good traction bar. What I am wondering is what front springs are the V8 guys running. I am thinking I will just try some stock YJ's since they are supposed to give a 2-2.5" lift and with the weight of the V8 that should put me back to level. So what are the rest of you running.

Well things have been slow, my welder died and I have been selling parts like crazy. So I bought a new welder and got my stick welder working again. Plans are changing some again I have to modify my frame a little for the 208 to fit and I have decided to three link the front with coil springs. I haven't found a leaf I like for the v8 swap and I have been wanting to link one of my rigs for a while I just keep building them for everyone else. If the front turns out like planned I think I will 4-link the rear hopefully will have some pictures before long I should be ready to start on supsension when I update again.

We've pretty much surpassed the subject of this post, which was front clip swap.
In the interest of future forum search capabilities,

We invite you to contine documenting your cool build in our Builds and Fabricator's forum.

    Thanks!

Not a problem I have been taking pics as I go so as soon as I get some more done I will start a build thread.
