Brake Light Switch

I need to order my brake light switch (73 CJ5). Quadratec (part #55217.01)has one listed that seems to mount to the pedal and work with a spring type function, however, 4wd.com has a part listed that seems to screw in on one end and has terminals on the other. Which one is correct for my 73? Which one functions better, and is easiest to install?

Might need a picture of spring type mounted to pedal if that is the correct switch.

    Thanks,
    Lee

If someone else doesn't chime in I have a '72-'75 column and pedal assembly I can look at/take pics of tonight or tomorrow for you.

That's the same switch my '74 uses. It seems to work fine, I have replaced it once in the last 15 years. It's more awkward than hard to install.

How does it install? When I got my CJ it had no brake lights or turn signals, now I am rebuilding and I took plenty of pictures but none had a brake light switch in them. I think after studying all day the spring type is the correct switch for my year model, just go to figure how to mount now.
    Thanks

This isn't a CJ setup but it's the same principal.

Right now mine is not mounted so I can't take a picture of the assembly. Basically it mounts on the stud on the brake pedal arm with the master cylinder piston. Both things are held on that stud with a washer and cotter pin. The wires plug in the end facing the driver.

If you have a master cylinder with a pipe plug underneath, you can use the earlier style if you would rather. It just screws in to that hole. Supposedly it is less prone to failing than the later rod end style.

If you want to keep the later style, it goes over the end of the rod like shown in that pic. If you install it the way that makes it look right side up(hook outboard), you need to take the rod loose from the pedal to finagle the hole side on first. If you assemble it looking upside down(hook side inboard), it slides on the assembled rod and pedal without having to take it all apart.
