I am looking at replacing the rear springs on my SOA 74 CJ5. I heard that replacing them with a set out of a 84-88 toyota would fit. They are supposed to be the same length but the center pin is 4" further back. Has anyone done this yet? the main reason is to stretch the wheelbase alittle.

I just put 79-83 toyota rear leaf springs on all 4 corners of my '72 cj5. The short side of the spring is the same as the cj and the long side is 4 inches (give or take a half inch, i will have to meassure for sure) longer then the jeeps. You can see them mounted on my jeep in my build thread http://www.earlycj5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=77285&page=15 if you wanna see them on a jeep. I beleive the 84-88 springs are even longer.

EDIT: well i googled a little and this is what I came up with:

    79-83 toy frt leaf: 22-5/8x22-5/8
    " " toy rr leaf: 20-7/8x26-3/8
    84-88 toy frt leaf: 22-3/4x22-3/4
    " " toy rr leaf: 20-1/2x26-3/4
    55-75 CJ5 frt leaf: 19-3/4x19-3/4

Ran out of time to find the specs on the rear cj springs but im sure someone here knows what it is. Hope it helps.
