I have bottom mount wipers with the motor mounted outside the windshield under a metal cover on the driver's side.

It looks like a need a driver's side wiper pivot. Doing a search on this board I found out the '76 and up pivot won't work. What model and manufacture years of jeeps would have the pivot I need when I place my WTB ad in the classifieds?

Next question. There's three holes along the base of the windshield on the inside. They are approximately 1.5 inch diameter. What covers these holes up, PO used black electricians tape. And where to you buy these covers?

Next question. I took the motor off and its rusted solid, but after seeing the price of replacement motors I'm going to try to get it operational again. How to you get the motor hooked back up to the linkage again. It was a challenge to take it off the linkage and putting things back together is always more difficult. What's the secretes for working on wiper linkage/motor

1st question: driver's side wiper pivot, They are not made anymore, maybe you can find one at a junk yard, my driver's side wiper pivot was broke and I was able to piece it back together, and it's still holding. The shaft had pulled out of the pivot plate, the shaft had a hole in the end of it. I filed the sides of the shaft to make it fit back into the plate and found a small self-tapping screw to hold into place.:smash:

2nd question: three holes, you can find the 69 - 75 CJ wiper access hole covers here:

3rd question: wiper linkage/motor When I removed my wiper motor I removed the clip that is holding the motor pivot to the arm. I started to remove the pivot from the motor but, I saw how much of a problem it would be to put it back on. I had to use a pair of needle-nosed pliers to put the clip back in place.

    Hope this helped,:driving:

Most good hardware stores carry the plugs. They are just plastic snap in units.

The holes are there to access the linkage.

The wiper linkage fits late '67/early '68 to '75 CJ with outside bottom mount wipers and '75 and older DJ's with the same.

    Thanks guys

By any chance does someone have a photo of the driver's side pivot. I have the flat metal part that connects to the linkage. But I don't know what goes between it and the femal sockt on the wiper. My guess its was a round metal rod tack welded to the metal part. Or did this rod rotate?

The only older wiper pivot I've seen that is sold now is for JEEP CJ 76-86, I might be wrong but I haven't been able to find anything older than a 76 that is sold new.

I was a little off base in what I thought it would look like. My metal link has been seperated from the main body of the pivot. I have the dark rod shown on the far lower right and lighter gray color metal link going up from the dark rod to the pivot. But don't have the metal link and pivot connected, so its either broke or I'm missing a piece.

Is it a ridged connection between the link and pivot or does it rotate?
