Herm's Full Float Axles, what spindles are used?

I'm curious and its not business hours to call. I am researching converting my '69 Dana 44 rear-end to full float. I also have plenty of stock Dana 25 and 27 front spindles and hubs. Question:

    1) Can I order the axles and drive flanges only, and use stock front end parts for the hubs and spindles, or are the spindles and hubs in the complete kit slightly different?

I seem to remember the stock spindles needing to be bored out slightly for the axle to fit through, but I don't remember now. Too many hours searching I suppose. Thanks!

P.S. I was also planning on using GM brackets & Jeep rotors to convert to rear disc brakes as well, FYI.

pretty sure the spindles can be machined down on the back to fit into the D44 housing....think the spindle hole size will be fine for the axles
btw.....I have his kit on my 6 and am happy

Herm uses 25 or 27 spindles and the back side is machined. The last several sets of his ff axles I've seen are necked down so the inside of the spindles don't need to be machined. you will have to remove the spindles to remove the axles however if you ever need to if you don't machine them out.

Thanks a lot guys. I have access to a lathe (and friends to know how to use it) so I'm leaning towards machining my existing spindles to fit, to save some money. When I disassemble the 44, I'll match up the spindle diameter to match the rear end. Good idea on the inside diameter, it might be handy to bore out the inside dia. for easy axle installation/removal if ever needed.
