    Progress......slowly but slowly

Finished the wheelhouse notch, cleaned up the tub (rust/grime/grease) and primed some of it, cut out some rust in the floor, put in the new bed from Classic Enterprises, got the radiator repaired, and the grille put back together (lights, etc).

We put some pieces together (for grins) while we waited for the shipment of the bed to arrive
    [IMG]

Then worked stopped (on the jeep) cuz school is out and we spent a week at the ranch.

We got a decent pic of the Venus passing the sun hoopla
    [IMG]

And the county wanted to blast the gravel pit on our place for more road material (video)

Got a little work done on the '59 this summer.
I think I mentioned that I HATE body work but am too stubborn and cheap to have it done.
    So I blazed on....
Finished cutting and patching ALL THE RUST I HAD PATIENCE FOR!!

Got the bottom painted, and set on the frame.

Painted the exterior of the tub, and bedlined on the inside.

    Made some body mounts.
Installed dash (temporarily) and glove box (Thanks Mark "ojgrsoi") for the stainless saladbar veggie tray. :)

Found some good strong EPDM rubber weatherstripping for the toolbox lid.

Now it is Re-assembly time Hinges, tailgate, body parts.

Getting Close!! Next up.....Exhaust, tires/springs/shocks, alternator...uhh list is longer than I expected so I'll stop there. bunny with a pancake

    Starting to get fun again.

A little quality time with a wiring diagram, some medical tape, a sharpie, and a multi-meter

Some was done on dis-assembly, but there was more detail needed.

All wires present and accounted for. Some in better shape than others.

    Next is the Alternator upgrade.

    Moving right along....

    Got the alternator upgrade done.....

I used spacers to get the belt lined up right.
Fan blade is PRETTY CLOSE to the pulley/shaft....but I guess I just roll with it. Hope a Water pump bearing doesn't go....

put in a new ignition switch, wired her up and turned it over....SWEET MUSIC TO MY EARS!!!!
Need to clean up the wiring in the engine bay, that should complete the engine work enough to put the fenders on...oh the anticipation of driving this thing again....feels good.

Oh an I got my oldest son married off. (more jeep money should become available.) hellokitty

Raising three boys she will defiantly brings the assets (some real, some purchased bunny with a pancake ) to upgrade, the looks dept. on our branch of the family tree.

    The boy out-kicked his coverage.

Wiring is pretty much done and found some tail lights that "will work"

Got a new shipment of parts...

Bell Crank Rebuild, Ross Box rebuild, Tie rod ends, Windshield seal, also some decals just for fun.

I should be able to get rid of the "Custom Spring Stabilizer" now. ;)

Starting to look like a Jeep again (with the windshield on).
I'll probably put the passenger fender on now that the wiring is done, but will wait on the driver's side 'till I get the gas tank in and plumbed up.

    Steering is done.
Rebuilt Ross, Bell crank, and new tie rod ends.
    Installed steering wheel/column.
Misc stuff like hood latches, new choke cable/knob,
    transmission & diff fluids, etc.

Set the old seats in it,
    [IMG]

Cranked it over a few times, but I really Need to get a gas tank.
Hung a bottle of gas above the fuel pump, (seen in previous post pic)

I had tested the original starter on the bench, and it spun. It had been setting for 25yrs.
It did turn the motor over, and start it but it was "tired", and bendix teeth were about gone, so I opted for the Toyota upgrade.
    WOW WHAT A DIFFERENCE...
But didn't want to burn down the garage. So I need the fuel tank before getting the timing set, etc.

Oh and since this is Garrett's project. His stable has grown to include an ATV.
He won a bet with his mother (ace'd an exam) so mom had to PAY UP and get the ATV.

I think she learned her lesson on bets with teenagers. (plus that ATV money could have finished the Jeep bunny with a pancake )
So now it's back to Saving pennies for tires, springs, shocks, etc.

    I little update.....and a lot of fun.

We got a new gas tank, sender, and gauge cluster. Also made a new clutch linkage. Got it all installed, played with timing a little and chased a few electrical gremlins but good to go now.

Still need suspension (springs, shocks and tires), and exhaust and little stuff. (I know it is never ending)

But she drove herself out of the garage and onto the driveway and into the sunshine on this beautiful day.
Garrett was excited when he got home from school to give it a "test drive" up and down (and up/down/up/down/....) the driveway.
    (click for video below)
    First try....2x4 {hehe}

4x4....We decided that 4x4 was best to start out.

    Moving right along...

    Did a little more...well A LOT MORE.
All new suspension (springs, shocks, shackles, u-bolts)

Topped off all the fluids/lubricants, and made Knuckle pudding.
Gotta say I was impressed with myself on how to get the pudding in the knuckle.

I Cut the corner out of the zipplock and put in the cap from a gear oil bottle.

The straw let the air out.
Got tires STA Super Traction.I'm pleased. Garrett is ECSTATIC !
The old 15" and the new 16".

Misc stuff that I forgot on other orders. Speedo cable, mirrors, finished up the guage set (volt, temp, oil).

Put a tach on and got it timed/tuned pretty well. I need to dive it some.

Garrett spent some quality time behind the grinder, cleaning up the bumper.

    Got the step straightened out/painted/installed

Got Electric Wiper motors (modified the looong shafts)

THIS THING IS GOING TOODLING AROUND THE NEIGHBORHOOD NOW !!! Whoop!
(We'll see what happens, what works, or needs attention.)

Well we had a little set back. Melted wiring original harness. We were doing some work under the dash and I think something got shorted. I had put a mech. temp gauge on it a while back, and coiled the excess cable under the dash. I think it contacted the light switch, and it went down hill from there.

Got an original harness and light switch from Walcks...and got it all wired back up.

Form a E-brake lever from Mid-West that cleaned up and worked nicely.

Now if I could get this darn thing to run right!!! Got a compression gauge and have 110, 115, 117, 115. It stumbles pretty bad, and has a backfire, hope it isn't valves.

I found a local guy that has a small Flat Fender Repair shop that will likely become my new best friend. He suggested that I put a Solvex on it. So that it the next step.

So while I wait for the carb to get here guess I'll check the valves, and pull the old carb off.

    Onward through the fog.
