I am just finishing a 153 4cyl chevy swap in my 48 CJ-2A. I am down to finding a radiator now. The stock radiator has the bottom outlet on the wrong side for the chevy engine. What radiators are you guys using for chevy swaps that has the bottom outlet on the right (passenger) side. It can only be 24 inches wide and fairly short to clear the hood. I hate to spend to much on a custom radiator, would rather go the junk yard route. By the way I used a bellhousing and 153 tooth flywheel and starter from a 65 Impala, Novak b/h adapter to T-90, Langdon's Stovebolt provided HEI and Holley/Weber progressive 2BBL!!! Can't wait to drive it! The only other issue I have is the cracked exhaust manifold, it's welded for now. I need to replenish the piggy bank then will probably go with a Cliffford Header. Thanks for the help, Todd

Dad ran that same engine in his '43 GPW. He ran a combo of hoses and pieces of tube to run them to the other side. Looks hack but worked good. A GOOD radiator shop should have NO problem moving the inlet or outlet wherever needed if your radiator is in good shape. Personally that's the avenue I'd explore. Should be cheap too. I think my local radiator shop that does excellent work charges about $30 per move.

move the outlet as mentioned above
    easiest and least expensive
assuming the existing radiator is in good shape

Get a quote from your radiator shop before you let them do anything.
I trusted my (ex)shop to treat me fair when I had my neck moved but about hit the roof when I picked it up. They charged me $110 plus tax!!!
Needless to say, they won't be getting any more of my money.

I am happy to report I had the guy's from Curley's radiator in Holdrege, Ne charged me a whopping $15 to change the bottom neck to the other side. It works great! Now I just need to finish the re-wiring job and we will be ready to go.

When you figure the time it will take to move the outlet and then the going shop rate, it doesn't sound so out of line to pay $100. They can't even break even for firing up the torch at $15. $50 seems more like a really good deal for me.

My favorite shops are the ones that do things because you have a neat project, or something different they don't often get to do anymore. At the tavern or home over dinner, they can tell about some old JEEP they got to fix. There are many things that money alone will not take care of. Like was said, it really wasn't worth their time.

make sure to check the fan blade clearance in relation to the lower outlet and radiator hose.
