Yeah yeah yeah! Unfortunately we have a 11 month old fighting the croup and he isn't very happy with Daddy spending all the time in the garage. But I did get the front clip removed and the wiring all tagged and taped. Took me 4 or so hours thankfully in a somewhat heated garage. The Cj7 frame is out back getting covered in snow and ice. We are supposed to get 10-12" of snow here in the next day are so.

So here is what it looks like with 40's. Very unstable on the street and the low mile 304 was very taxed. I decided I liked it better with a mild lift and 33-35's so here we go with my .........De-mod?

Heres how it was when I built it the first time. 4" lift 32" tslsxs.....LOVED IT!

Here is how it was a few years back with MTR 35's Still super loossy goosy on the street to the trail. This pic shows the 76 on up windshield and frame but it is gone and replaced with my Stocker 73 winshield and frame now.

Here how it is is now as of 8pm....... getting torn down with 35" coopers on it getting ready for the CJ7 frame.

I thought I drained the gas before setting it up in the garage but that wasn't the case. Must of been dang near full. Now i have to figure out what the heck I am gonna do with all this bad gas.

IIRC a waste disposal site says to mix the old gas 50-50 with new and use it in your garden equipment. There's an obvious problem with that approach ... I have, in the past, added a couple of gallons of old gas to a half tank of new gas in the J10 with no apparent ill effects. No need to waste it.

As I understand it, the main effect of age on gasoline is to reduce the octane. The lighter higher-octane molecules are more volatile than the rest, and evaporate faster. So you can dilute old with new to boost the octane and get rid of it that way.

<edit> Ok, read some more and this seems to be only part of the story. Supposedly gasoline can be stored indefinitely if it is kept in an air tight-container. Stored open to the atmosphere, it both evaporates volatile components and takes on moisture. This moisture combines with the organic solvents in the gasoline to form gums and varnish. The claim is that these gums and varnishes are dissolved by new gasoline, so you can mix some quantity of old stale gas with new gas and make the whole batch ok... for a while.

Apparently enough water will turn the gas into a two-phase mix, with hydrocarbons on top and water-alcohol on the bottom. JMO - I would throw out the last few ounces of gas in a container of old gas. Suggest you add it to your waste oil and turn it in with the oil.

Maybe I should start a build thread?

Got the seats and other parts out of the interior. I have some minor rust issues to mess with in the underseat tool box. I have been searching the web checking out different stretch builds and came across one on adding 10" to the 5 tub. I think I may go that route. I may even take it further and add the 20" to some sherman full side panels and add 12 to the frame and get my cj6 I have always
wanted. I may end up doing the latter. I think you can stretch cj7 frames right before the rear stationary spring hanger. I will size that job up tonight.

Thought I had my 14 bolt and front 44 sold so I could move on with this project full steam but the guys looking at them couldnt come up with enough to get them. More than likely just go ahead and get these into my basement and hold on to them. Then ill need to decide if I want to try and sell the built boxed and strapped 72-75 frame or let the scrappers come get it and move foward with the project. More pics to come.
    ""
    What do you guys
think? Add 8 inches to the tub to meet the 7 frame or add 20 inches to it and stretch the 7 frame to match? I have the capability of doing both.

Go for the full late-CJ6 length.
~104" is a great wheelbase length. Jeep brought it back '04 - '06 with the LJ.

If you're going to go to the effort of doing a stretch, you may as well get the benefit of the longer length.
If you do the CJ7 length. you'll wish you went longer.
If you do the 104" length... you are not likely to wish you went shorter except in the rarest of situations :)

x2 on cj6 length. And when you had the 5 on 40's and you said you had 1 ton axles, were they still full width? Mine hs full width and they are so wide I can't imagine it hardly ever being tippy. I'm thinking about cutting them down.

I think I am going for it with full side panels. I made the top rail bends in both lengths to get it to cj7 length and full cj6 length. May start out with 5 on 7 frame first and work from there. Im working on here and there. My side pabels should be here in a fee weeks then I will split them for the stretch.
