1962 CJ5 - Brake swap???

    What does the "NT" D30 stand for?

    Narrow track.

    The CJ D30 came in two track widths, NT early and WT later. The difference in track is a few inches.

    If you're talking about the brakes the two links I provided above can supply either 11" drum brakes or disc brakes.
    Saginaw steering requires some fab work but McRuff has a pretty complete kit that is very well built, but does require welding and minor fab skills, as does any steering mod to these Jeeps.

    These things are very possible and have been being done for 50 plus years. I hate to say it but if your local 4x4 shop says it can't be done then they are definitely NOT familiar with the Early's, most likely deal with YJ's or newer which is pretty typical these days.
    The early conversions were done with Hudson steering and Mercury brakes if you can believe it.... As well as other parts including Studebaker and many other manufacturers. That's one of the cool things about these Jeeps, only your scrounging skills or imagination is your limiting factor. :beer:
