I finally got around to checking my rear hubs. They are tight on the axle but I have a lot of endplay on the entire axle. And I'm having trouble finding an exploded view to see how it fits together.

Does anyone have an exploded view of a Dana 44 out of a 71 CJ5?

'71 should be a flanged axle with no endplay. No adjustment either. If you have end play then the axle bearings are worn out and need replacement. If you have a tapered axle (big nut on the end of the axle) then the rear axle assembly has been changed and I'd suggest a search on "tapered axle endplay" "axle endplay" "adjusting rear axle shafts" etc.

That clears up a good bit. Hopefully next week I'll get the electricity repaired in my garage and I'll get in there with the AC and tear the axle down.
