I have a 1960 cj5 it has a t90 tranny and twin stick transfer case (not sure witch one) am wondering if there is a problem with the levers on the transfer case they have a lot of play from side to side like maybe there is a bushing wore out. there is only one anti rattle spring and according to my Moses ludel there should be two. Is there supposed to be that much side to side movement? I currently have the tranny transfer case on the bench and when you pull the lever one way you can see it almost comes out of the groove on the engagement rod. maybe this is normal?

There should be 2 anti rattle clips, one on each rod. These take up a lot of slop in the twin sticks. The clip you have may also be worn.

Also check the pivot pin for wear. Very common for the pin to wear and add to the play you are experiencing. Between the pin and the anti rattle clips your play should just about disappear.
