There are no 1946 army Jeeps. Production stopped in 1945 with the end of the war. It could be a 1946 civilian Jeep, but not a military model.

I have bought and sold many flatfenders over the last 10 years not as a business but more as a hobby and condition is really worth everything. There are so many variances of value based on how much you want to fix it, how much it needs to be roadworthy, one guys opionon on rust vs another and so on. Like stated above we could use some pics and that would help. I have noticed though that in the last couple of years, that there seem to be less 46's on the market than there use to be and that would probably be because of production numbers for that year of course.

Ok, i know that i don't know much about old jeeps. I did not mean to offend anyone when I asked the question. My father in law has a 40's something jeep. Neither he or I have no clue as to the year. He told me it was a 46, but i know it's an army style. I can tell it has never been repainted. It is standard army green. It looks, maybe like a cj2a but i'm not sure. it's at one of his friends house so I don't have a way to get picture right now. It has a 4cyl. engine runs good and strong. The body has some rust. All the 4wd drive and tranny works good. I just was looking for a ball park figure on it's value. He wants me to sell it on Ebay. So I just wanted to see what I need to set the reserve price for. Any ideas of price would help. thanks for all your help.

First I'd try and pin down exactly what it is, what year, model, etc. That can make a huge difference on value as well as location. Does it have a valid title? Big difference in value with that alone. Like the link that was posted says. I'd really try and pin down more info. For example, a rust free Jeep in the rust belt may be worth twice what one is worth in the SW or Pacific Northwest, or maybe worth half as much. Accessories can make a huge difference as well. If it's lifted, modified, has a hard top or soft top, overdrive, PTO winch, electric winch, lift kit, stock, needs lots of work, rust, no rust, original seats and unmolested vs. parts replaced, can have a dramatic effect on value. Bottom line the Jeep is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Without more info and pics it's virtually impossible for us to place a value on something we haven't seen, can't drive, and really have no idea of condition.
If you can get some pics that would help tremendously.

Hmmm, my first Jeep was a MB, titled as a '46.
Bought it in 1968, might have been the first civilian title was in '46?

Absolutely true-lots of surplus MB's & GPW's were titled as 46's. I think it just depends on what state you're in. Of course we've all seen plenty of CJ2 & 3's painted OD green, too, so It's really hard to say. As everyone else has said, we need pictures!!!

Dont worry at all though your not offending anyone here as far as I would say we just need a lot of info to establish an accurate value and hopefully we can be of help to you.
