I have a 1964 and 1970 cj5. Can the flanged axles from the 1970 parts jeep be swapped into the 64? They have different gear ratios or I would have just swapped the entire differential.

If you're talking about the axle shafts from the flanged fitting in the tapered axle housing or vice verse the answer is no. The housing ends are different and the spline counts are different. They don't interchange.

As far as I know there's no reason you couldn't swap the R&Ps-that was my intention until I found out my flanged axle had 4.88s rather than 3.73s. (I was going to have to buy gears for my disc brake front D30 anyway and I'd rather have the 4.88s than 5.38s)
