Koenig PTO

    I am having issues getting the pto apart on the bench. Hopefully one of you can give me a better idea on how I can get it apart. It is a model 51 pto. I got the parts diagram for it. I can't get the two parts to the case to split apart. When I try to split it apart the sprockets go in opposite directions making the chain bind and you can't get it apart. The sproket where the driveshaft hooks up to goes with the back side of the case. At looking at all the pictures and parts diagram it looks like it should stay in the front part and the shaft just ridesin the bearing but It won't budge the other direction. Am I missing something else?

    it's common for the shafts to get stuck in the bearings and the bearings to stick in the back half of the case. Frequently I have to pull the shafts out of the front half of the case to separate the two halves then disassemble from there. It's common for the bearings to stick in the back case half and can be a bear to get out without the proper puller.

    Generally to get the stuck bearing out of the case half I use a pilot bearing puller on a slide hammer. It's a blind hole and you can't get to from the back side. If the bearing is stuck on the shaft I use a jaw type puller generally.
