    Alright,
I got a line on a Flatty tub, fenders whole body setup (including a top). Honestly, my tub is pretty far gone, there is quite a bit of cancer, and alot of bondo from the PO (i honestly do not know the entire extent of the cancer), so anyway, thinking of picking up this Flatty (not sure if it's CJ2a, Cj3a or MB - its listed as an MB on the ad)...how much work would really have to go into mounting that tub on my setup?

I figure i would have to fab body mounts, do a fair amount of work around the clutch, brake, throttle pedals etc... but with my 225 v6, will it sit nicely or will there need to be a bunch of fab work there too? Anyideas?

The frame is a bit longer in the back than the Flatty so some stick out or shortening of the frame is to be expected. Overall it's not too bad. My boss has a 3b body on an early CJ5 Chassis. He claims it went on pretty easy. For him it was very tight for radiator clearance but he's running a SBC 400 with a T-19 and 20 case. Your V-6 should fit in ok but I expect there may be some radiator clearance issues to deal with, not sure on that. he had to remove the shroud from the grill and mount the radiator right to the grill and use the short water pump and accessories. Again, with your shorter motor it "should" be much easier. He also has swinging pedals though so I can't help much with that. May be a good time to convert?

Pretty easy swap, I put flatties on to DJ frames and the body mounts line right up.

Wow. Thanks Guys. So what do you think - i haven't seen it in person yet, but here's the CL link - looks solid - i emailed him a bit ago asking for a time i could come check it out...http://boise.craigslist.org/cto/1550029309.html

Good idea or bad one? My Cj5 needs floors, hat channels and the whole rocker on the drivers side done...im ok at welding, but have never done any body work...oh in addition to the rust - both front fenders have a tear in them, as well as the grill mount at the bottom has tears in both sides... thoughts?

Looking at the pics it's well worth the $500 in parts alone. That's an M38 or CJ-3a windshield which actually can be a good thing. Easier to see out of. I'd definitely take a look at it. Could probably part the stuff you don't need and get at least some of your money back....

Agreed...there are a couple of major wins to it for me possibly... tub without tons of rust, a top (which i dont have for the 5) and the possibility to recover my expenses...

I am in the process of putting a '49 3A body on a '63 5 Frame right now. Not tough. Just make sure to get the tub on like you want while taking into account the front grill mounts. They are different 3A vs 5.

I am remaking all the body mounts to lift the body a bit so the V6 and T98 fit better under the tub.

I believe Jeepfreak81 has done this on his rig. I would do a search for photos and send him a pm.
