I've run into a problem when swapping my dana 25 out with a dana 27. The yokes on these axles are different sizes, so my original driveshaft will not work.

Does anybody know a part number for the conversion u-joint? I think it would save me a lot of time at the local parts house.

    Thanks

You can just swap the drive yoke from the 25 to the 27 if you'd like. May need a new seal while you're at it.

The 25 and 27 use different splined yokes. I thought it would be that easy too.

Not all of them. I put the small yoke from my D27 on my D25...

Mine must be an early 25, because the spline counts are different. I've already pulled both yokes. I'm sure it would be much easier and cheaper to buy a conversion U-Joint for the V6 Dana 27 Yoke to 4cyl Driveshaft, than purchasing a new yoke, or building a new driveshaft.

I was just hoping someone on here has dealed with this before. I know this has been done before, just hoping to avoid a lot of confusion at the local parts store.

Thanks for your input, this site has been a great resource for my build so far

If you can find a yoke from a Scout, Jeep Wagon, or Pickup that came with the 27 it will fit right on your 27 and used the larger 153x Spicer U-joint. Good excuse to freshen up the pinion seal at the same time.
Most 27's were fine spline and the depth of the splined area of the yoke is different as well. The yoke on the left is the 27 yoke and the one on the right is the standard 25, coarse spline 44, also fits coarse spline 18 and 20 transfer cases.

Oops, one on the right is fine spline but other than that it is the same as stated above.

    Well,

After spending an hour at our local napa, it's looking as if this U-Joint is not a configuration they manufacture. I will now be looking for the correct yoke. Off to the junkyard.

Thanks for all of your input.
