Seems to me that from 65 to 75 the tops are readily avail for 76 up, but tough to find for 75 down. I have a fiberglass hardtop on my 75, but hate it.. I am currently working to trade the hardtop to a friend for a four-speed install.. If that falls through I'll list it here..

Sorry for the late response, have had computer problems the last couple of days. Do they have any locations here in NM? Phoenix is about 8-10 hours away from where I am at, but I am sure there has to be someone here locally that provides a similar service. I will look into it.

I have no idea how much the top weighs, but I can't imagine it taking more than two men to handle it. Who knows, maybe 3 guys.

when i got that quote from the shipper i told them probably like 150 pounds with the doors on it.

i figure that shipper would be the best because it was the closest to new mexico. if you want i can call them and find out if they will pick up from your place.

I'm new to this forum. I just bought a nice '75 CJ5 with 30,000 original miles. It is in great shape and all stock. I am interested in putting a hard top on it so if the top being discussed here doesn't end up in WI I may drive over to get it from AZ. Not trying to pressure you just letting you know I'm interested.

The auto transport companies usually prefer to ship running, driving vehicles.

If you want, there was a late model Acme top and doors for sale by me, I can see if it is still around.

I have the late windshield on my '73 CJ6, and also swapped a late windshield onto my neighbor's '74 CJ5, and it isn't a difficult swap at all. Just use the late model wiper switch, and drill two holes in the dash. You need to use the late windshield hinges, or you can modify the upper hinges on the late model windshield if you still want it to be removeable like the early style.

agar originally didnt want to sell the top until spring and i was tring to talk him into getting rid of it early. so now winter is getting closer and closer and i really dont want to settle for a soft top during winter. that would be rediculous. and i found a oversize shipper that would of shipped it for around 200 or 300 from nm to wi

So does that mean you want me to check on the top by me or not.

I bet it would be cheaper to ship...

I have a 1975 CJ-5 and I have an ACME hard top on it which the seller on eBay told me was for a 72-75 but, it is actually for a 76 and newer. It fits on my stock windshield frame with added foam weatherseal. The main concerns are that the doors are tapered in at the top in the same angle as the 76 windshield frame. Ours is straight with no angle. The result is a gap between the rear of the windshield frame and the front edge of the doors at a distance of about 1/2". Also, the rear tailgate on ours has a rolled over top and the rear gate of the hard top for a 76 is not molded for that big rolled over lip causing the rear lid not to close fully.
