    I just purchased a M38 ish jeep ;)

It is a fiberglass m38 body on a CJ frame. It has an AMC360. There is absolutely zero heating ducks/heaters etc etc

I am thinking I need a way to at least defrost the windows... what if any options do I have?

    Thanks in advance.

I installed a Heatercraft two-duct heater last year; reasonably priced, doesn't take up much room under the dash, and provides plenty of heat - and it gets cold here. One duct dumps out on the floor, the other connects to the defrost plenum (if you put one in). I put a repro plenum up under the cowl, but if you search this forum you will find some threads with some pretty ingenious defrost plumbing.

Ok... those are all good options. Has anyone tried to use an electric heater? like the ones in golf carts etc (i searched but couldn't find any info ;) )

I'd imagine golf carts have electric heaters because they have mucho macho batteries and no cooling system. A Jeep has a much macho cooling system and an electrical system almost incapable of illuminating two headlights. I think an electric heater would require its own alternator.

FYI, my 73 had a GASOLINE fired heater under the driver's seat. Had a spark plug igniter, a blower fan, and a burner. When new I might have trusted it but it just seems like a bad idea for so many reasons.

That Summit heater I understand is excellent. especially for the price.
A friend of mine with a 3B has a piece of PVC pipe running length wise at the bottom of the windshield with holes drilled into it for defrost. The ends of the pipes are capped and the center has a T fitting wich has a hose down to the defrost on the heater. works very nice.

Years ago I took a rear cabin heater out of a Chevy AstroVan, stuffed it under the CJ dash, wired in a 3 speed fan switch. Worked great, cost me about $50 total.
This CJ also had a glass tub. I removed the glove box; it wasn't useful anyway because of the front hoop of the roll bar.

I have a heater out of a CJ and one from an Grand Wagoneer. I am guessing the CJ is weak from reading the posts. Would the waggy one work?

Hmm? My 73 factory heater will run me out if I leave it on very long.. Is it a early cj issue with the heaters being inadequate?

You can no longer attach photos via the web site. You need to host them somewhere else and link to them.

I used a Nissan heater for the glass body on my 3B. The defrost ducts are plumbed up the back side of the dash into the "bump-out" and then into the boxed windshield frame like the CJ 5/6's. I use this heater almost exclusively for the defrost.

The main cabin heat is from a second heater under the driver's seat. It used a Honda blower assembly and a J20 heater core. Works really well.

After reading a few of this threads, I'll give it a try.
    Top 4 (left to right):
trans, m-22 side shifter, why it looks a little of center
    overdrive
    xfer 4/2 wheel drive
    high/low shifter

    The bottom 2:
I'll guess one is an E-brake
the other is his winch brake.

I'm sure duffer will pop in if I'm off.

Summitt also has these http://www.summitracing.com/parts/RPC-250-1550/ which I am considering, looks like a great option if you want to keep things super simple.

Jegs also has these ones http://www.jegs.com/i/Warmseats/936/WSHW12V/10002/-1

I am leaning towards heated seats over plumbing in a new heater and adding stuff to the inside of my firewall, plus as my CJ has only a bikini top and canvas half-doors in the winter I think I'd get more from the seat heaters as far as effectiveness goes.

    Good luck with the project!
