As promised, here are some pictures of the damage on the rear fender...looks like it has been crunched pretty good at one point as well as the rust....

Here is the oak strip that was in the support channel...

Its gonna take alot more work to get the body filler all off, so that i can start on making the repair panel, but hope to have that done in a few days...the speedo cable should be here today, so that should be another little project :D always something to do.

better to find that now than later (after final prep/paint). Use a magnet over the whole body to find filler, it'll stick to metal but not to body putty.

Yeah, thats a great point...i had looked on the inside of the panels and from underneath to find rust, wasnt really worried about the body filler too much, but was really concerned about rust... i didnt see this rust because it rusted inside the support channel :( oh well, live and learn, i have learned alot from this project, and even though i have gotten really frusterated with it at alot of times, i still have the bug...just was hoping i was alot closer to driving it lol.

Someone posted a link to the Advance Adapters windshield latches - think im gonna pick up a pair of them next payday. I hope to have this rear cleaned up and patched prior to that, so that i can start to drive it :D

It looks like you are using a grinder to remove the bondo. Try a wire cup on it, but don't buy a cheap one the wires will fly off.

It looks like my tub and yours are brothers in rust! Same crunched corner and floor rot.

Yep, i have been watching your thread and did alot of the same work youve done. I was using a flap disc to remove, but i think ill try the wire cup!

in regards to the crunched corner, im kinda curious as to how it got crunched...not certain if they backed into something, or maybe flopped....R)

In regards to progress.... today, i got the speedo cable....went out and installed it....i then had an odometer, but no speedometer.... came in house and searched the forum....found one that said the cable might be too long, and just loosen it from the rear of the speedo, and drive around...bingo! it works, so ill probably cut a little off the end of the cable tonight and get that working....then ill get back to work on the rear fender.....

A lot of times that corner gets damaged when the spare tire is still mounted there, and it hits or gets hooked on something.

So, i cut the end off the cable and still no go....but got to digging around on the speedo and found the cluprit....there was just enough end play in the shaft that when pushed tight, it would bind....solution?....i had some thin circlips lying around...and one, well, one was just thick/thin enough to fill that gap....put it on, with a little drop of oil and Voila! Speedometer works! Just got back from the test drive, all i can say, is BRRRRRRRRRR. its about 30° outside, and with the jeep completely topless....it was chilly, but i LOVE IT! stopped and saw my cousin at the local napa....had him check it out (he hadnt seen it since i first got it) he likes it...and also found out that my right brakelight is out...think i must knocked the bulb out last night when i was dinking with the fender.... :D have a GREAT NIGHT EVERYONE!

So, it was another productive weekend working on Tetanus!

I started by cutting out and making a new patch for the rear fender, then welding it in and banging out alot of the dents, got some out, but will still be a little crumpled - thats ok though...

Then i got the first layer of filler inplace, after grinding the welds down...

And sanded it out pretty good...

Then i took it for a drive, and noticed something i hadnt heard before, wheneever i would hit a bump, there was a clanking sound coming from the front end...so i started pulling that apart and the mount for the grill was not even welded in place!!!!

so it seems, that it came apart at sometime with the PO's....and someone had cut a piece of poly pipe and slide on it so you wouldnt hear the metal on metal contact so much....Well, i got that welded back in place, and remounted with GR8 hardware....and no more noise! I think i finally have the body solid and solidly mounted to the frame! Yippee!!!! So, here is how she sits today...

Next up is going to be rough sanding the whole thing, and painting! Soon i will be joining the White Jeep Club, but for now, she is solid and runs/drives good! YAY

i am very pleased with the result :D

33X10.50 BFG All Terrains. No Ren. wheels. Those are 15X8.5 I got used from a buddy about 11 years ago.

Alright, well after much time and frusteration trying to get the engine to run correct on points and the prestolite dizzy, i bought a used delco dizzy from a forum member, and upgraded to pertronix. I got the new pertronix last night and installed and i couldnt get it to fire....this morning, i took a little time and spun back to TDC, and flipped the Dizzy 180...boom she fired right up. Seems to be running pretty good, ill mess with her a little more tonite! :D

So, last week, i took the Jeep out to the store, and busted the clutch linkage. I installed/upgraded to the Heim Joint linkage from the main technical page, took it out for a good little drive this afternoon - with no hiccups YAY!. Picked up the kiddo from school in it even, he LOVES it.

Well, it's been a while since i updated this - This past weekend, i dropped the differential covers and cleaned them out good, and changed the fluid, as well as went over the frame for any cracks - everything seems to be holding up pretty good for now - i drove it about 40 miles this past weekend, with no problems. I think im gonna try to get my fuel gauge working this week :D
