dana 25 and 27 interchangeable?

    Will Dana 27 axles work in a 25 housing? How about the hubs and other parts? Aren't Dana 27 ring gears actually smaller than 25's? My 25 has the gears I want but I could use some spare axles and my 27 has the Warn premium hubs.

    Many (myself included) consider the 27 shafts in a 25 an upgrade as the Spicer style single cardan u-joints are stronger than the Rzeppa and other styles of joints frequently used in the 25. The hubs, spindles, locking hubs, knuckles, pinion and side gears (spider gears), are all interchangeable between the 27 and 25. The ring and pinion, diff case (without machining), yoke, and housing are not.

    The knuckles from a closed knuckle 44 will also interchange with 25/27's.
