    Yolk....such a funny word... R) R)

Ok tech question, on th new front end for the Jeep, another Dana 25, I cannot get the drive yolk off. I've taken the nut and washer off, soaked it in PB for several days, put a 2 jaw puller on it, made my own puller, and it won't budge. Any ideas??
    Thanks

I had to replace the yoke seal on my front axle and the yoke was a pain in the butt to get off. We used zep 45, a two jaw puller, air gun, wrench and a big strong fellow. now this yoke was in grease and oil so you'd think it would be easy to get off. I had to turn the puller by hand, so that is where the strong guy came in. Putting it back on is another story...

A puller usually does it...Are you using an impact wrench?

I have hit it both ways with a good impact to help it break the seal. I have also had to put a bit of heat to one. Got to be real careful as you only want to heat the outside to get it loose. Last resort since you don't want to rebuild the pinion bearing too.

Crank the puller down and leave it on over night.

Also, tighten the puller up and hit the end of the jack screw with a hammer (steel dead blow if you have one)

X2 on the BFH !! Everytime you walk past the jeep, hit the puller once or twice and tighten more if you can. Like BobG said, overnight helps.

You should be able to get to the back side of it with a hammer. alternate sides as you hammer.

    Ho-leeeeeeeee poop
I've tried hand, 2 jaw puller, custom puller, slide hammer, BFH, tons of PB with all, oxy-acly to knock the chill from it, pry bar...And I even went CRAZY and tried to WINCH it off with the Jeep...Anchored to the truck. Nope. It just laughed at me and went "Haha, you suck."
So, I guess it's time to pass it off to U-joints in town (1970CJ6's brother works there) and see what they can do....

Did you break the puller? If not, IMO you have a ways to go.

Yeah, pulling it with a winch won't put anywhere near the force that a puller will..
A good puller, lubed properly, tightened with a strong impact wrench, ought to do it.

Just stick it in a press and it will pop right off. I thought you were trying to get it off under the Jeep. The hard part is already done

Don't you wish someone would step in and say, "oh yeah, just push this button and it will pop right off"!

    I feel your frustration.

    At least your project runs.
