How far can you safely bore a 225? I have a block that has been bored .040 according to bore measurements. They are pretty round yet, measured at top inline, 90*, and bottom inline, and 90*.

I can't give you a specific answer as my memory is getting bad on that type of minutiae. I would look and see what pistons and rings are readily available. That is generally a good rule-of-thumb guide and one that works for me.

Nah, we just have this motor..A lot of the parts "we" have are community property with my Dad and my Brother and I. When someone needs it, they just use it.
My Brother is fixin to sell his house and was gonna throw this block away.

im sure you are already aware of the fact that if it would cleanup at .050" over you can use standard bore 231 pistons.there is an issue with compression ratio change on 231's (lower) .sonic mapping costs about a hundred dollers, but you would really know were you stand as far as thin cylinder walls and over heating. just a couple ideas.

Yes, and I don't want to drop the compression.

I'm glad everyone here has taken the high road, and not suggested sending the block to DonX.

If it were me I'd send the block to Billy or DonX. They could use a good V6 in their Jeeps.

Ah, now I understand. I'll rebuild it first, but I'll have to de-tune the heck out of it so they won't hurt themselves....:)

Till you try to rev them like a V-6. Then the connecting rods break, bust out the side of the block, break the starter and mounting flanges, etc.....R)
