    Hello everyone!
    I've got a 68 CJ5.
    Riddle me this.
Which Bushings do you prefer: Poly vs Rubber?
What about on the body vs elsewhere?
    Pros vs Cons?
Just trying to get a feel for what other folks prefer.
    Thanks:beer:

I use prothane poly bushings on all my jeeps. Any time I have gotten one and I put shackles on it, I take out the old C-style meatal shackles and replace them with the prothanes. I then take 1.5 inch by 3/8" flat strap and make the lenght I want. I just be sure to grease them real well when I put them in. They are tough and none I have had squeak at all. I just make sure to grease them up good like I said.

I have poly. The colored ones squeek. I went with black the second time round...no squeek.

    Moved to tech..

I've been using poly in the springs, but they don't last very long. Contemplating trying rubber...

I tried rubber bushings but they didn't last long and were a pain to replace. I was replacing them every 6 months with the abuse I was putting my Jeep through. Went to Energy Suspension Poly's and then I had to change them about once a year. Much easier to change out also. YMMV on that.
The poly's are stiffer though and do tend to squeak some.

It depends on the application. I use poly bushings in suspension components, and rubber in mounting components, like the motor and trans. poly handles torque , shock load and abrasion better than rubber. It sucks at dmapening vibration. Rubber sucks up vibration well, but doesn't have the other characteristics. I have never noticed a squeak in the colored ones. Course most of the time my motors are so loud that i wouldn't.

    Thanks for the input!
I think I'll go Rubber on the body and Poly elsewhere.

Yah Patrick, last set I put in have lasted about 4 years. That was back when I was really abusing my CJ-5. Racing and what not kills 'em quick. I really like the poly spring bushings.
