is there supposed to be a plate behind the wiper motor cover on a 69 CJ5 windshield and if so what does it look like?

trying to fab one and the pics I find on the web appear to be from a later design

If you're asking about a metal plate between the W/S wiper motor cover and the W/S frame, I'm pretty sure there isn't one. Last one I took off bolted directly to the W/S frame. I have a frame (cut apart) and a cover in my garage if there's anything like pictures etc that I can help with, let me know Randy.

I don't know if this picture will help any.

Mark, thanks that's all I had on mine when I took it apart.

well I guess it will have a plate and gasket behind it now being as I spent about an hour fabbing up a nice one. hoping it will keep the rain out of the lower ws frame:coffee:

I'm going to ask one more question about the wiper motor since the picture is here.

I'm modifying my pre 68 windshield to work with the post 68/69 lower linkage. Can someone get me dimentions for the hole that is cut out on the inside of the windshield frame behind the wiper motor? That and the location and size of the holes going thru the frame for the wiring.

or if anyone can tell me what covers the hole I need to put in the frame to gain access to the wiper linkage. I know there are 2 rubber gromlets for the pivots.
What covers the hole behind the wiper motor linkage?
Is there a rubber gromlet for that too or just a metal plate?

I've got an old frame that I cut and am about to toss. I'll try remember to snap a couple pictures for you when I get home tonight. If I forget, please feel free to remind me with an email or PM.

I recall there's sealant (rope caulk) between the cover and the windshield frame. This nominally makes rain water drain around the cover and not behind it.

Well, I guess I'm not much help. That part is cut off of what's left of the frame. Sorry.

yea, I figured there was something there around the cover on the outside.

What I'm talking about is on the inside of the frame. Is there some kind of access so you can get to the linkage from the inside of the jeep?

As your sitting in the drivers seat you would see it;)

Yes. Plastic or rubber plugs in frame. Remove, and there is the linkage.
