Hello new member, I Think that the swap will work but you might need a different gear off of the tran. Someone with more knowledge will post soon. Then you can get an OD for you jeep. Good luck.

    Hi,
You will need a 6 spline input gear that matches the gears in the transfer case you decide to use. There were 3 basic versions of the 18 transfer case with many variations in linkage, etc. WW2 versions in MB and GPW's and super early 2a's were 27 tooth input. Stay away as parts are very hard to find. The 26 tooth used in most 2a's up into many years of CJ-5/6, etc. Then 29 tooth used in most Willys Wagons and Willys PU's and later CJ's up to '71. They can be had with twin stick or single stick linkage. Most prefer twin stick for the shifting options and linkage simplicity. You will also need a large hole case to bolt up to the T-15. Large hole 18 transfer cases were used behind the T-14 and T-86's primarily, but most of those were single stick linkage. If you find a small hole 18 that is in good shape you can put the guts and output housings on your 20 case and have a large hole 18 with a case that's slightly stronger.
If you do this make sure your case has the fill hole on the side. Some had them in the back and if you use the drum park brake on the back of the tranfer case then you won't be able to access the fill plug. If you do not use the brake on the transfer case then this should not be an issue.
